Thanks to our collective efforts, AB 1113 has been signed by Governor Gavin Newsom, marking a huge milestone in codifying California’s $4 billion ELO-P in the state education data system and collecting student-level data. We’re so grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside the incredible teams at Partnership for Children and Youth and our California Afterschool Advocacy Alliance family. Join us for a FAFSA workshop tomorrow at Heart of LA! Free and open to the community!
As many who work in education know, earlier this year, delays in opening up the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) created significant challenges for college students. For the families and students we serve, many of whom are first-generation students, access to financial aid is crucial to their college success. On Saturday, 9/21, Heart of LA is hosting its final FAFSA workshop of the summer. These workshops are one of the many proactive steps our team took to ensure that every student had one-on-one support in applying for financial aid. The workshop is open to the community and, as always, entirely free. Heart of LA's College and Career Success staff have more than a decade of experience providing financial aid application assistance; year over year, this program sees 100% of its high school seniors graduate, all of them having received FAFSA (among other aid sources) support. Please share this opportunity with your communities!

As we continue our month-long celebration of #InternationalYouthDay, we’re excited to share another highlight. This year’s theme, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development,” highlights the essential role that digitalization plays in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Burberry Inspire Young Leaders Programme aligns perfectly with this theme. This initiative was designed to foster the next generation of leaders, leveraging digital platforms to bring together young changemakers around the world, amplify their authentic voices and address social issues in their local communities. Designed in partnership with Burberry Group plc and The Burberry Foundation and with the support of Burberry volunteers, the Young Leaders participate in biweekly skills workshops, learning sessions and engaging roundtable discussions on critical topics like mental health, representation, and sustainability. As part of our month-long International Youth Day Celebration, we are spotlighting our Young Leaders by sharing their insights and wisdom gained as part the Burberry Inspire Young Leaders Programme. Together, we can empower young people to create sustainable solutions for our world's most pressing problems. Last Saturday was truly rewarding as I volunteered with Heart of Los Angeles (HOLA) for their Day of Service. Packing around 400 backpacks for youth in the Los Angeles community was an incredible experience. Witnessing individuals from various industries unite for a common mission was inspiring. A special shoutout to the dedicated HOLA team for organizing this impactful day. I am thrilled to continue my volunteer journey with them as a mentor. #DayOfService #Volunteer #CommunityEngagement #HeartofLosAngeles
