About us

HGA is a national interdisciplinary design firm committed to making a positive, lasting impact for our clients and communities through research-based, holistic solutions. We believe that great design requires a sense of curiosity—forming deep insight into our clients, their contexts, and the human condition. We are a collective of 1,200 architects, engineers, interior designers, planners, researchers, and strategists. Our practice spans multiple markets, including science and technology, corporate, cultural, education, local and federal government, and healthcare. HGA’s work has received numerous awards throughout our history—from our own industries, as well as those of our clients. Equally as meaningful to us is the shared impact we create with our clients through purposeful design that speaks to the human experience. #HGA #HGADesign

Empathy is generally described as the ability to take on another's perspective. When it comes to design, leading with empathy ensures teams deliver environments that respond to the unique needs of the communities they serve.   In the latest edition of #HGAFrame, we highlight colleagues, clients, and collaborators who are redefining what it means to prioritize an empathetic approach to Healthcare.

We’re excited to join Cal State Fullerton for the public opening reception of the Gallery Building at the Visual Arts Complex, celebrating six exciting new exhibitions. HGA collaborated with CSUF to reimagine the space as a blank canvas for creative experimentation, collaboration, and education, inviting the community in to experience the arts in both formal and informal ways. Input from local artists and curators helped shape the building into a highly adaptive destination that will evolve as the arts evolve. Check out the video below for a sneak peak of the new Visual Arts Complex or come by and experience the exhibits in person starting November 2nd ⬇

This October, HGA teams celebrated milestones with clients across the nation, including educational and community spaces that promote lifelong learning and connection. The new Jim and Eileen Heeringa Dance Wing at Hope College supports dance education and collaboration with other performing arts disciplines, while the Schaefer Center for Health Sciences at Colby-Sawyer College offers a modern, collaborative learning environment for future healthcare providers. We broke ground on Connecticut Center for Arts and Technology 'ConnCAT' Place, a multi-phase development that will enrich the community with career training, arts education, and mixed-income housing.
