💫 Thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Trilligent Tech Talks in Brussels! Our panel, featuring Ania Helseth, Dessislava Fessenko, LL.M., MScBE, CIPP/E, and Pablo Asbo (LLM), and moderated by Timea Strihova, tackled critical issues at the intersection of AI, IP, and copyright, covering regulatory gaps, key court cases and what’s next for the EU policy. Key insights: 💡 Finding the right balance between protecting creators’ rights and fostering AI innovation is a central issue in current policy debate. 💡 Transparency obligations and opt-out rights are critical tools for content creators to protect their rights, though opinions vary whether it is practically enforceable. 💡 Access to data is key and the type and quality of data used can make or break AI systems, which leads to important questions related to competition. 💡 Inclusivity in AI application is an important goal to ensure that the benefits of AI reach diverse communities, including those with disabilities and limited access to technology. 💡 In Europe, we have the regulatory framework necessary, now the devil is in the detail and how it will be enforced. 💡 We need to take a step back and see the AI governance landscape from a global perspective. European solutions need to be aligned with other key legislatures. Want a deep-dive into the event? Check out our blog: https://lnkd.in/gFiz_SPy 🚀 Stay tuned for more insights as we continue our Trilligent Tech Talks series, and we look forward to seeing you at our next Brussels event! #TrilligentTechTalks #AI #IntellectualProperty #RegulatoryChallenges #Innovation

⚖️ How can the UK balance innovation with the protection of human rights? Our team is proud to share this insightful article, recently published in Tech Policy Press by our very own Alex Wagner. The piece delves into the UK's recent decision to sign The Council of Europe's Framework Convention on AI and Human Rights, alongside the controversial plans to expand the use of AI-powered facial recognition technology with limited regulatory oversight. Read more on how these tensions play out in the intersection of AI, governance, and public safety here: https://lnkd.in/dQkFqGWq #AI #ArtificialIntelligence #TechPolicy #PrivacyRights #FacialRecognition #AIRegulation #HumanRights #DataProtection #iamtrilligent
I wrote for Tech Policy Press on the UK's commitment to protecting human rights and democracy from new technologies, while rolling out facial-recognition with little regulatory oversight 👀

Youth online safety is at a crossroads. As young people spend more time online, ensuring their safety while protecting privacy is increasingly complex. Governments, tech companies, and advocates are working hard, but the fragmented global policy landscape makes it challenging to keep up with evolving regulations. In key markets like the U.S., EU, and UK, new laws on age verification, content control, and child protection are shaping the future of online safety. However, differing legal frameworks across borders mean organizations must navigate a complex web of requirements. 🔗 Read our blog for more insights on this global issue: https://lnkd.in/eypiXwNg Need support navigating the busy policy landscape?
