HUGE win for Illinois and future generations to come! The Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park will be located on the old U.S. Steel site. PsiQuantum will build the most powerful quantum computer leading to game-changing breakthroughs in manufacturing, cybersecurity, national defense and more!
Today is an historic, game changing day for Illinois and future generations with the announcement that the former U.S. Steel site has been selected for the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. PsiQuantum will build the world’s most powerful quantum computer that will allow for amazing breakthroughs in manufacturing (material development, life saving pharmaceuticals, and more), cybersecurity, national defense, energy, and more. The cryogenics facility will maintain an absolute zero temperature. Congrats Pete Shadbolt and team - welcome to Illinois! Governor JB Pritzker has a goal to make Illinois the quantum capitol of the world (think Silicon Valley). Today’s announcement along with the recent partnership with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the location of four quantum tech hubs, and amazing resources at the University of Illinois System, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Argonne National Laboratory, Fermilab and Chicago Quantum Exchange put us much closer to making that dream a reality. The Illinois Manufacturers' Association is proud to be on #TeamIllinois, visiting Psi in Palo Alto and working with their team on supply chains in Illinois. Credit to the Governor for “thinking big” and the entire team who worked on it from Andy Manar, Claire L., John Atkinson, Kristin Richards , Kate Waimey Timmerman, Brian DeMarco, Brad Henderson, David Boulay and so many more. This has the potential to change the future for generations to come. #quantum #ingenuity #MadeinIllinois
