One of my responsibilities as Minister of State in the Department of Finance Ireland is the International Financial Services sector. With over 57,600 people working in the sector right across the country, and one in four jobs based outside of Dublin, the Sector is vital for our economy. From its humble beginnings in Dublin’s Docklands in the 1980s, you could scarcely imagine that a few decades later Ireland would be hosting over 400 of the world’s leading financial services firms and 17 of the top 20 global banks. This sector is so important to our economy, to the tens of thousands of people who are employed in it, and for our international reputation. Today I’m proud to publish the IRELAND FOR FINANCE Progress Report which shows the clear growth and potential for the sector.

Today in Ibec, along with IFS Skillnet, we held a deep dive into the EGFSN report on Skills for International Financial Services! 📈 This report provides crucial insights into the skills needed for Ireland to maintain its position as a global financial services hub. We heard from industry experts: - Dr. Ronnie O'Toole from Indecon International Consultants on their research methodology and key findings. - Don O'Connor from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Trade, and Employment on the report's recommendations. A lively panel discussion followed, with insights on how we move forward with the report’s recommendations and actions. Thanks to Martina Kelly (IOB) for moderating, Kevin Gallen (IOB), Donna Noonan (IFS Skillnet), Aisling Mc Niffe (FSI) and Ronnie for their contributions. Let's work together to implement the recommendations and build a strong talent pipeline for the future! #FSIreland #financial services #skills #talent #ireland #EGFSN #Indecon #IOB #IFSSkillnet
