October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. At ISTSS, we are committed to raising awareness about the profound impact of domestic violence and intimate partner violence (IPV). To support this cause, we’re resharing essential resources from our Friday Fast Facts, which include a podcast and a fact sheet on gender-based violence and IPV. These resources provide valuable insights for understanding the effects of violence and how to support survivors. Learn more by visiting: https://lnkd.in/dHzjUknr Together, we can work towards breaking the cycle of violence. #DomesticViolenceAwarenessMonth #DVAM2024 #EndDV #TraumaAwareness #SupportSurvivors

About us
The International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) was founded in 1985 for professionals to share information about the effects of trauma. ISTSS is dedicated to the discovery and dissemination of knowledge about policy, program and service initiatives that seek to reduce traumatic stressors and their immediate and long-term consequences. ISTSS provides a forum for the sharing of research, clinical strategies, public policy concerns and theoretical formulations on trauma around the world. We are the premier society for the exchange of professional knowledge and expertise in the field. Members of ISTSS include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, counselors, researchers, administrators, advocates, journalists, clergy, and others with an interest in the study and treatment of traumatic stress. ISTSS members come from a variety of clinical and non-clinical settings around the world, including public and private health facilities, private practice, universities, non-university research foundations and from many different cultural backgrounds.

ESTSS board visit to the ISTSS2025 annual meeting, Boston, September 25-28, 2024 Together as the board of the @European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies, we visited the #ISTSS2025 annual meeting of our sister society @ISTSS in Boston from 25 to 28 September. We met with representatives from affiliate societies around the world to discuss how we can learn from each other and collaborate on exchanging knowledge and expertise around psychotraumatology and advocate for science-based best practice. Additionally, the #ESTSS panel presented on the experiences of ESTSS and lessons learned in launching cross-national initiatives to respond to mass adversity and trauma on the European continent. Mass trauma and adversity recognize no national boundaries. The effects of political, environmental, and social challenges reach far, and the need for wide-spread expertise in psychotraumatology and competent trauma-informed service providers is high. The panel shed light on three collaborative initiatives spearheaded by the European Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ESTSS), which translated expert knowledge into tangible responses to significant adverse events. These initiatives, spanning crises from terrorist attacks and natural disasters to the COVID-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, demonstrate the necessity of coordinated efforts across Europe. Notable among them are the TENTS post-disaster psychosocial care network and guidelines, addressing the aftermath of catastrophic events, the ESTSS-ADJUST Study involving over 15,000 participants, on the psychosocial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the online certification, training, and supervision task force established to support professionals responding to the war in Ukraine. We are grateful to our affiliate society @ISTSS for the warm welcome to our board and the opportunity to connect on these timely matters, and we look forward to continuing our exchange at the #ESTSS2025 Biennial Meeting in Tbilisi, Georgia, 12-14 June 2025. Our CMO, Dr. Aron Tendler presented a poster, Amygdala-EFP Neurofeedback: Effect on PTSD Symptom Clusters at International Society for Traumatic Stress Studies (ISTSS) in Boston. This research presents the findings of additional analysis performed on individual CAPS-5 symptom clusters from the pivotal Prism for PTSD clinical trial. Results highlight Prism’s potential as a comprehensive adjunctive treatment in the management of PTSD. The observed effect sizes suggest clinically significant per-cluster results, individually pointing at a reduction of: ✅ Distressing memories and nightmares ✅ Avoidance characteristics ✅ Hypervigilance and exaggerated startle responses Additionally, results showed enhanced emotional regulation and positive self-perception.
