In the realm of metabolic health, it's essential to shift our focus from merely counting pounds lost to understanding the broader health improvements that weight loss can bring. The real measure of success should be how we prevent diseases, reduce healthcare costs, and improve overall quality of life. The recent study on tirzepatide, which shows a remarkable 94% reduction in the risk of developing type 2 diabetes among adults with prediabetes, underscores this point. This isn’t just about the number on the scale; it’s about preventing a lifelong, chronic condition that carries significant health risks and economic burdens. To truly make an impact, we need to advocate for accessible and comprehensive metabolic health programs that focus on long-term health benefits rather than short-term weight loss goals. By shifting the narrative to disease prevention and cost reduction, we can highlight the necessity of these programs and ensure that they reach those who need them most. The future of healthcare lies in proactive, preventive measures that prioritize overall health outcomes. Let’s continue to push for strategies that make these vital programs more accessible and impactful for everyone. https://lnkd.in/g8hba5yF

Hate running? It's okay if you do! Walking offers tremendous benefits and it's one of my favorite ways to ease patients into an exercise regimen. The timing of your walk can have an impact too. For example, walking for 10-15 minutes after a meal improves postprandial glucose, reduces HbA1c and glycated albumin. One study showed that patients with Type 2 Diabetes had better glucose control with a 10 minute postprandial walk compared to a 30 minute daily walk. I'm happy to have contributed to this article on the benefits of walking by Natasha Burton and the Lose It! team. https://lnkd.in/gbmxUtNC
