🌍 World Mental Health Day: A Tip for Employers to Support Employee Well-Being Today, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, I want to highlight the BIGGEST, simplest, and yet powerful way employers can help their teams manage their mental health: offer flexible work arrangements. Research shows that employees who have more control over their work schedules experience lower stress levels, better mental health, and improved work-life balance. Flexibility allows employees to manage their personal responsibilities while remaining productive, which can reduce burnout and improve overall well-being. 📊 According to a study by the American Psychological Association (2021), employees with flexible schedules reported significantly lower levels of stress (37%) compared to those without such options (55%). As leaders, let’s prioritize mental health by creating environments where employees feel supported in managing their work and life. Here are two starter ideas: 1. Implement "Core Hours" with Flexible Start/End Times Instead of a rigid 9-5 schedule (or whatever it looks like), set core working hours, such as 11 AM to 3 PM, when all team members are expected to be available. Outside of those hours, employees can choose when to start or end their day based on personal needs. This allows them to manage their time more effectively while ensuring team collaboration. 2. Introduce "Flex Fridays" or Remote Days Offer one day a week (e.g., Fridays) where employees can work remotely or have a lighter, flexible workload. This encourages better work-life balance and can improve focus, creativity, and mental recovery as employees wind down the week in a more relaxed environment. What does flexible work look like for you? #MentalHealthMatters #FlexibleWork #EmployeeWellbeing #Leadership #WorldMentalHealthDay

As individual 1-1 therapy remains financially inaccessible for many, group therapy emerges as a vital solution. By lowering costs and fostering authentic community connections, group therapy can profoundly enhance mental well-being. Start-ups are pivotal in this space, creating the necessary tech stack for online gatherings (payments, scheduling, etc.) and facilitating the discovery and pairing of patients with peers and practitioners. We’ll witness a surge in group-based cohorts tailored for every demographic, life stage, mental health condition, occupation, and more. Here are some notable players leading the way: Global Pioneers: 1. Last week, I partnered with amazing colleagues at BambooHR and Culture Amp with possibly one of the best sessions on Psychological Safety that I've ever been a part of. Why? We had all angles covered! Anita Grantham shared incredible insights from the HR leader perspective, Mary Margaret Garza, Ph.D. broke down the people science for us, and I got to bring in the clinical psychologist/employee mental health perspective. Talk about science, actionable, case study, personal vulnerability all in one! 3 big takeaways: 1) Specifically include items on your engagement survey that speak to psychological safety. Examples: Am I able to bring up problems and tough issues with my team? If I make a mistake on this team, is it held against me? Do people on this team sometimes reject others for being different? Am I able to ask other members of this team for help? 2) Breakdown in communication is the biggest challenge (reduced transparency, misinformation, gaps of information, etc.). The most impactful solution here is regular updates. Whether it’s a weekly internal newsletter, regular all-hands, provide frequent and transparent updates about changes and their impacts. This reduces uncertainty and builds trust. Even if your update is “there is no update”. 3) Remind employees about mental health resources (ex: EAP, mental health day, etc.) or provide new access to resources. In particular, we talked about resources that help employees learn to manage stress and anxiety not just individually, but in the context of a team and company. I can personally say that at Coa, this has been one of the most booked classes that we offer for employees. Thanks to the folks who attended! We had an incredible turnout with vulnerable questions and sharing. Finally, shout outs to Kelly Wideman for planning and Allyson Shelley for being our moderator extraordinaire!

Every Mental Health Awareness Month, company leaders share with me what their biggest challenges are and where they are struggling to support employees. Leaders usually take a few minutes to share their challenges and here's my expected response at this point: "Sounds like your employees are struggling to feel valued and respected." Even trickier? Sometimes it's not because what IS being done, it's about what's NOT being done. How are we supposed to know what we don't know? I got you. 🎤 Join me, along with experts from Culture Amp and BambooHR, as we break down how to create environments where employees feel safe, supported, and ready to tackle any challenges that come their way. 🔗 Sign-up link in comments! Personalized mental health care for individuals and teams | Forbes 30 Under 30

As a female founder in the health and wellness space, I am excited to go to NYC's first consumer HealthCon! 🧠 ✨ Every day, there are more and more options out there for health & wellness, which is fantastic, but... can be daunting to navigate. My own health and wellbeing is incredibly important to me, and even as a trained leader in the space, I experience a ton of choice fatigue and friction in putting together my desired care plan. I'm looking forward to hearing from leaders like the co-founder of SoulCycle Inc./Peoplehood, CEO of Evvy, and more -- plus, this #womenshistorymonth, especially jazzed to see so many *women* on the speaker list! Let's talk about topics like gut health, sleep, fitness, and mental health. Tickets are on sale now -- see you there? Shout out to Delphine Le Grand for your responsiveness, compassion, and clear skill in putting this together. Looking forward to celebrating you day of! #health #healthandwellness #nycevents https://lnkd.in/eiBZ52H8
