It’s an emotional and inspirational night at the annual “Light the Night” event supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at the Henry Vilas Zoo. JSD’s Colton Darwin donated his land surveying yesterday and today to work alongside OPN Architects and The Electrician. Colton measured out more than 400 points on approximately 500,000 square feet of the walk route around the zoo for tonight’s event. After a solid full day of design set-up, OPN’s incredible display tied together three different areas, using JSD’s marked points on the walk route journey: The Beacons of Resilience area spotlighting 280 glowing orbs; Remembrance Island featuring 100 umbrellas with lights and pictures commemorating those who have passed, and finally the Cove of Courage featuring 15 displays sharing survivors & those that have passed. Hundreds of walkers joined Hockey Coach & Hall of Famer Tony Grenada, experiencing the inspirational route and while JSD donated and joined the “construction cares” team, we know everyone in attendance helped raise thousands of dollars for a great cause! #JSDTellTheStory #LighttheNight The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

It’s been 5 years at JSD for senior project engineer Steve Brueggeman as he takes a lead on project design and construction management! Steve provides project management, design and QA/QC for various private and public residential, commercial and institutional development projects from initial concept through final construction. Although he would admit that if he could have any job in the world, he would be a Major League baseball player. Outside of work, Steve has a huge love for boating with his wife, three girls and his English Golden Retriever pup named Billie! Happy anniversary Steve! #JSDTellTheStory

Congratulations to our very own Janie Schaumburg with her recent promotion to Director of Development on our Development Services Team! Janie’s professional experience includes site analysis and research, due diligence, legal document review, entitlements, permitting and coordination. It's the last of our JSD golf outings as we ended the season with landscape architects Lori and Sarah who took over a hole sponsoring the Illinois Association of Park Districts summer golf outing at Sunset Valley Golf Club in the Park District of Highland Park! There were hot dice being thrown before foursomes teed off and the prizes are running out fast! Wilson) offers 54-units as JSD’s engineering and landscape architecture expertise played a crucial role in extensive renovations to the existing building, a building expansion, and “softscape” surrounding the building. Let’s continue to feature our associate of the month, as we spotlight Matt Saunders! On JSD’s engineering team, Matt continues to produce HUNDREDS of great site designs after 11 years on our team focusing on all facets of land development from initial conception, through construction documents, to yearly site inspections thereafter. He is known for his attention to detail and primarily focuses on stormwater management design, grading, earthwork calculations, erosion control, site layout/design, and much more. Outside of work, Matt enjoys riding all his bikes but favors his mountain bike, hiking, fixing/improving everything, cruising in his Wrangler with his wife (Amanda) and son (Callan), and playing with his two fur babies, Lucy and Jemma. #JSDTellTheStory
