Trade on the outcome of events

About us

The first US federally regulated exchange where you can trade on the outcome of any event. Kalshi’s historical regulatory approval from the CFTC enables it to offer a new asset class called “event contracts,” which allow traders to take positions on whether a future event will happen or not. Kalshi aims to enable investors to trade on almost anything with economic relevance from Covid numbers to whether a bill will pass in Congress, broadening the historical definition of what a commodity derivative is and paving the way for the futures market to catch up to the novel risks facing the economy today. Kalshi is backed by Sequoia, Henry Kravis, Charles Schwab, and Y Combinator.

We're seeing increasingly more mainstream usage of Kalshi in regular economic forecasting. We are getting closer to a world where we manage to smooth out economic cycles because economists, policymakers, and the general public are getting smarter about the future of the economy via prediction markets. Economics is mostly about forecasting after all.

Last year saw our first individual user officially cross $1M in yearly income (net P&L) on Kalshi 🎉🎉 It's great to see that Kalshi is progressively becoming a stable part-time and even full-time job for many of our members. A lot of people have a ton of knowledge about the world and the news. Kalshi is a way for them to capitalize on that knowledge. Excited for 2024!

Job openings in the US decreased to 8.7 million in October, well below the consensus estimate of 9.3 million. That’s good news for employers navigating a tight job market. But it could also spell trouble for the overall economy. Will this drop in job openings translate to higher unemployment?

Is Argentina about to go on a tear, or implode under Milei reforms? We just launched a slate of new Argentina markets... Will Milei blow up the Central Bank? Will he dollarize the economy? And more. Whatever the outcome, expect chaos.

We have to play our small part in this. Yesterday we launched 5 new OpenAI markets to trade on: - The identity of the new permanent CEO - Whether the CEO will change again - Whether Sam will start a new venture - Whether OpenAI will end its for-profit division - Whether Open AI’s board composition will change and how These markets have already been a useful gauge of what's about to happen based on breaking developments.

"In the White House I, along with other members of the economic team, would regularly refer to prediction markets on electoral outcomes and specific events to help inform our understanding of how political and economic developments would affect economic policymaking... ....It would be helpful to understand what informed traders with money at stake would expect—a method of understanding probabilities that research has consistently shown is superior to other ways of summarizing and updating based on information." Jason Furman, former... - Chief Economist and a member of Obama's Cabinet - Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers - Deputy Director of the National Economic Council - Current Professor at Harvard University

We love creative applications! This one went a bit beyond reaching out to recruiting@kalshi.com

Today, I received the best job application I've ever received in the mail: - a printed cover letter and resume on incredibly high-quality paper - one of my favorite books, Skin in the Game by Nassim Taleb - a beautiful Kalshi-branded leather envelope A quote from the cover letter: "I wasn't born into money, Tarek, but I've made it my business to make money, solve problems, add value - not just for myself but for everyone I've worked with... Sending this book and letter isn't just about sharing a good read - it's a demonstration that I'm persistent, committed, and I get shit done."
