According to #sustainable living expert Sarah Robertson-Barnes, Americans throw out between Thanksgiving and the end of the year 25% more #trash than we do the entire rest of the year. Thankfully, even small shifts can help lower that percentage. Earlier this week, a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for best radio news documentary was awarded to "Burned" — a major investigative project from KCRW, CapRadio, and The California Newsroom focused on the devastating Caldor fire. KCRW reporter Caleigh Well’s contribution to the work focused on Big Bear, where only a tiny fraction of the thousands of forest acres approved for thinning and prescribed burns have been dealt with. A National Edward R. Murrow Award is among the most prestigious in news, recognizing local and national news stories that exemplify the importance and impact of journalism as a service to the community.
