Forensics is the name of the academic sport that high schools and colleges use for Public Speaking Competition. Would you believe me if I told you…competing in Public Speaking Competition is more anxiety-inducing than any sport? Competitors are at the mercy of their judges, and every critique is subjective. However, this provides a very important life skill: Do not concern yourself with your judges. Work hard on researching your content, sharpening your articulation, and mastering speech dynamics. *These same tenets apply to professional athletes who are seeking television work.* #linkedinsports #professionalcommunication #careerdevelopment

Encouraging your children to write gives them a valuable tool for expressing themselves and articulating their thoughts and feelings. By practicing writing, kids develop the ability to organize their ideas and communicate effectively. Writing is a powerful resource for children to find their voice and speak up confidently in the world around them. When kids feel empowered to express themselves through writing, they become more comfortable speaking up in various situations, whether it's in the classroom, with friends, or at home. Empower your child this summer by encouraging them to express themselves through writing in my in-person summer camps to help your child grow their curiosity, creativity, and confidence! Link in bio.

At 4Voices we strongly believe that Public Speaking is a learnt skill, an important life skill that you can learn at any age, but in an ideal situation, it is best learnt during adolescence. As the founder of Vocalis Public Speaking Sinéad Lunny here explains, a knock in confidence in those formative years can heavily impact the way people perceive public speaking engagements as they get older.

We bring a specific part of ourselves to LinkedIn, don't we? Maybe it's a part that decided creating, performing, and/or singing had to be deprioritized in order to fulfill another goal. What if our creative parts and our professional parts didn't compete? I'm firmly of the belief that they compliment one another! (And with data showing our fear of public speaking as greater than our fear than death, I'd definitely say so!) I'm teaching a class called Cabaret at the Guthrie Theater this fall/winter. Skills taught in this course include how to engage an audience, how to be more authentic while presenting, and how to find the JOY in being in the spotlight. We'll work on story-telling, stage presence, and honing one of the most sought after skills in any profession - public speaking. We start next week! The link to register is below. And if you'd like to request a scholarship email classes@guthrietheater.org. https://lnkd.in/gX5tHsD3

Public speaking challenge is back by poplar demand 🚨😂. You’ll enjoy this one. Could you pass the challenge? 🫵🤨 Top tip: When speaking on something that you haven’t fully planned, focus on 1 point and explore it in depth rather than thinking of many different points to make.

💫 What a wonderful day! 💫 Today was a Claire Sutherley's Connection Academy day where I take a group of individuals that want to improve their public speaking skills and see their confidence grow and anxiety subside. Today's Academy Graduates were such a wonderful bunch! We began by crafting an impactful story, then looked at how we calm our anxiety, master our body language and vary our vocal tone. We also talked visual aids, checking our tech and how preparation is key to success. All that along with making new connections, a great lunch 🥪 and lots of laughs 🤩 ! 🙏 Huge thanks to today's graduates: Stephen Geer Lynsey Bashforth Heather Sharp Stacie Hurt Andrea Thompson Anna McManus-Hughes Anna Newport Nick Johnston-Davis Ian Long and Bernadette & Jemima from the Thornton Jones Solicitors team! If you'd like to 🎤 MASTER THE ART OF PUBLIC SPEAKING 🎤 come along to the next Connection Academy Session on 22 May in Morley.
