Africa needs reliable energy to bring greater prosperity to its people. The continent’s natural gas resources can play a crucial role in providing affordable domestic power while offering secure, cost-effective, and lower-carbon energy to the world. It is our goal at Kosmos to be the best possible partners to achieve that ambition. Our Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis will join African Energy Chamber’s NJ Ayuk JD, MBA. at AEC African Energy Week 2024 next week in Cape Town to discuss Africa’s priorities as it seeks to end energy poverty and set the stage for an even brighter future. #AfricanEnergyWeek https://lnkd.in/e8cBcsBW

Last week, our Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis participated in an executive dialogue at BloombergNEF with William Young, ACWA Power’s Marco ARCELLI, and Export-Import Bank of the United States’ Reta Jo Lewis, Esq. where they discussed how to encourage investment and advance the energy transition in emerging markets. Hear from Andy about what practical actions are needed to bring lasting economic and social benefits. #BNEFSummit
Emerging markets need access to reliable, affordable, and lower carbon energy sources -- but are struggling to attract sufficient investment. This moves us further away from the equitable energy transition we should all want to happen. Last week, I had the opportunity to return to this year’s #BNEFSummit to speak about this topic with BloombergNEF’s William Young, ACWA Power’s Marco ARCELLI, and Export-Import Bank of the United States’ Reta Jo Lewis, Esq. The Executive Dialogue focused on practical actions to encourage investment and advance the energy transition in emerging markets. The solution is clear – countries and companies must work more closely together to mobilize the required sums of capital. At Kosmos Energy, we believe success will be based on building a shared agenda with host countries and aligning our work to national development goals. Collaboration, transparency, and respect are the cornerstones of sustainable development -- and the only way to create lasting benefits for all stakeholders. Two years ago, we announced a target to grow production around 50%. We remain on track to achieve that target by the end of 2024 thanks to significant progress in delivering three important development projects – Jubilee Southeast in Ghana, Winterfell in the US Gulf of Mexico, and Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) offshore Mauritania and Senegal. We are around halfway to achieving that target with the successful start up of Jubilee Southeast and Winterfell, alongside other production enhancement projects in the US Gulf of Mexico. With first gas expected soon at GTA and the infill drilling campaign underway in Equatorial Guinea, we are closing in on our year-end goal of producing around 90,000 boepd. Kosmos Energy Chairman and CEO Andy Inglis shares his perspective on our 2Q 2024 results and highlights the catalysts we expect to deliver over the second half of the year:
Kosmos Energy’s second quarter results announced this morning show that we are delivering on our important development projects and production enhancement activities. The highlights: -Production is growing in the US Gulf of Mexico with first oil at Winterfell, the completion of the Kodiak-3 well workover, and the start up of the Odd Job subsea pump project. -The infill drilling campaign offshore Equatorial Guinea is underway with positive initial results from the first well. The partnership plans to drill and complete two infill wells, with production expected in the fourth quarter. The drillship will then drill Akeng Deep, an infrastructure-led exploration prospect, with results expected around year-end. -Good progress continues to be made at Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) offshore Mauritania and Senegal, with all the key pieces of infrastructure in place and first LNG expected in the fourth quarter. These are important milestones as we deliver our ~50% production growth target by year-end and reach around 90,000 boepd. As production rises and capital expenditure falls, we remain committed to delivering free cash flow within a disciplined capital framework to further enhance the financial resilience of the company. It’s an exciting time for Kosmos as we execute our strategy. For more insights, read our latest quarterly report here: https://lnkd.in/ghFyzjfG

“Kosmos Energy was once an entrepreneurial start-up too.” July 15 is recognized by the United Nations as World Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. It’s fitting then that our CEO Andy Inglis recently wrote about the 8-year legacy of the Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), and how its programs foster entrepreneurship, innovation and socioeconomic progress throughout western Africa. Check it out:
Being a force for good in the communities in which we operate is one of Kosmos Energy’s core values. The Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC) and its groundbreaking work in Ghana, Mauritania and Senegal is one of the most tangible manifestations of demonstrating this value in action. To mark the launch of Door Entrepreneuriat (which means “Starting Entrepreneurship” in Wolof) the Kosmos Innovation Center’s new program in Saint Louis, Senegal, I wanted to share my reflections on the KIC’s proud history, from its origins to its evolution, and how we’re helping to nurture the next generation of African entrepreneurs while facilitating innovation in sectors that reach far beyond oil and gas.
