Apple’s 30% fee for creators is necessitating an overhaul for Patreon. Patreon’s CEO, Jack Conte, shares how challenging it is to communicate this change to creators without losing their trust. As companies scale, there’s a natural tendency to hold back information and keep messaging vague. But Jack is determined to do the opposite—put everything on the table and show the math. He admits that fighting risk aversion and pushing for transparency requires effort, especially as the company grows. In January 2007, Mark Pincus founded Zynga as a project to develop a social poker game, back when Facebook was still "The Facebook.” As he recalls, his goal with Zynga was to create "forever games." "My ambition was to be a great product maker, to create one of those services we can't remember life before or imagine life without. That was my ambition."
