The March issue of The Lancet Gastroenterology & Hepatology is out today at https://lnkd.in/eKVUYNBP!
This month's cover by Vito Ansaldi is based on one of the research articles in this issue: the ASCOLT trial, a phase 3 randomised trial exploring the effect of the use of aspirin after completion of standard adjuvant therapy for patients with colorectal cancer.
This month's Editorial discusses alcohol, cancer risk, and efforts to increase awareness of the link between the two in the general public. Our Comment section includes the customary expert opinion pieces linked to the research articles in the issue plus a comment examining efforts to eliminate viral hepatitis in Ethiopia, and thank all who reviewed papers for us over the past year.
In terms of research articles, in addition to ASCOLT, this issue also includes the results of a phase 2 induction trial of tamuzimod, a new S1PR modulator, in patients with moderately to severely active ulcerative colitis, an individual patient data meta-analysis comparing the use of antibiotics with appendicectomy for adults with acute appendicitis, and data from the maintenance phase of the VEDOKIDS study, a prospective cohort study assessing the use of vedolizumab in paediatric IBD.
We also have two excellent reviews, the first discussing the liver-brain axis in MASLD and the second looking at IBD in South Asia.
