About us

The League of Chicago Theatres is an alliance of theatres which leverages its collective strength to support, promote, and advocate for Chicago's theatre industry locally, nationally, and internationally. We are proud to serve a membership of more than 200 theatres, a rich and varied theatre community ranging from storefront, non-union theatres with budgets under $10,000 to major cultural centers with multi-million dollar shows. No other theatre service organization in the country has such a diverse theatre membership.

    Join The Lorraine Hansberry Initiative and Navy Pier for a special sculpture dedication to playwright, journalist, and activist, Lorraine Hansberry. Los Angeles based artist Alison Saar’s sculpture work, entitled To Sit A While, features a figure of Hansberry surrounded by five bronze chairs, each representing a different aspect of her life and work. The life-size chairs are an invitation to the public to do just that: to sit with her and think. Marketing & Events Apprentice - League of Chicago Theatres The League of Chicago Theatres is excited to announce the launch of our new Programming and Marketing Apprenticeship. This newly designed program will ensure learning opportunities and projects in leadership and management between the League of Chicago Theatres Programming and Marketing departments.   • Physical Theater Festival Chicago showcases its 11th anniversary celebration, July 13th - 21st. The Festival begins tomorrow, July 13 with a full day of free family-friendly outdoor shows and continues with free virtual events on Sunday, July 14. During July 15 - 21, international, national and local performances, workshops and conversations will be held at Theater Wit, and the Instituto Cervantes. In addition to these performances for the second year, the Festival is partnering with the Segundo Ruiz Belvis Cultural Center in the Hermosa neighborhood to create a residency with the French-English theater company Voloz Collective, July 17 - 20. Tickets for individual performances are $22.75 (general) and $17.75 (industry/students/seniors/veterans). Festival passes for all performances are $100 (general) and $85 (industry/students/seniors/veterans). Physical Theater Festival Chicago is an annual contemporary, visual and physical theater festival that presents new forms of theater that are being performed around the world.
