This November, we are recognizing Native American Heritage Month by highlighting our work for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska. The design for The Boys and Girls Club of The Hocak Nisoc Haci in Winnebago, Nebraska reflects the deep heritage of the Twelve Winnebago Clans and connection to the natural environment through views of the sky and land materials that represent earth and sky. Suffused with light, the great hall provides dappled daylight with the east-west orientation honoring the Tribe’s sun-centered creation story. Integrated ropework in surrounding the great hall recalls the importance of basket weaving the drum to the heritage and culture of the Ho-Chunk people. #Design #Architecture #NativeAmericanHeritage #Winnebago #HoChunk

It was an absolute joy to attend the Dish Gala through Second Harvest Heartland! Dan’s company, LEO A DALY designed their headquarters/distribution center. When I lived in St. Paul, I volunteered at the Neighborhood House to assist Spanish-speaking clients access the food shelf. I will never forget how happy people were to see Maseca on the shelf. Something familiar. Something that meant everything in those moments. Food insecurity is everywhere - cities, suburbs, and rural areas. Providing innovative and culturally-appropriate services goes a long way in eradicating hunger in our communities.
