👏 When businesses give back, communities thrive. Yesterday, Bank of America’s incredible team stepped away from their desks to roll up their sleeves at Long Island Cares. They weren’t just packing boxes—they were packing hope, relief, and support for neighbors facing food insecurity. A heartfelt THANK YOU to these community champions for making an impact beyond banking. Your time and effort mean the world to the families we serve! Want to see how your team can get involved? Let’s make a difference together: https://buff.ly/47kcxnt #CorporateSocialResponsibility #BOAGivesBack #HungerRelief #LongIslandCares #CommunityImpact

Long Island's first food bank, serving Nassau and Suffolk counties.
About us
Founded in 1980 by singer, Grammy winning songwriter and social activist Harry Chapin, Long Island Cares Inc. - The Harry Chapin Food Bank is recognized by both The Emergency Food Assistance Program of the USDA (TEFAP) and the NYS Department of Health, Hunger Prevention Nutrition Assistance Program (HPNAP) as the regional food bank for Long Island. At Long Island Cares, we understand that it takes more than food to feed the hungry. Therefore, in addition to supplying nutritious food for hungry and food insecure Long Islanders when and where needed, we sponsor a wide variety of innovate direct service programs that help families achieve self-sufficiency. These programs include, but are not limited to: veterans services such as our VetsWork employment program, Baxter's Pet Pantry, children's nutrition programs such as AsparaGus's Children's Breakfast Food Truck, the Kids Café Food and Afterschool Mentoring Program, and the Pack It Up for Kids weekend meal program, and a variety of mobile outreach and food distribution services to ensure that homeless Long Islanders, disabled veterans, senior citizens and other populations for whom travel is difficult receive the services and assistance they need. Long Island Cares is a member of Feeding America. We are a BBB accredited charity and recently received Charity Navigator’s highest 4-star rating for the sixth consecutive year. We are proud to carry on Harry's legacy of tireless advocacy and effort on behalf of hungry and food insecure Long Islanders.

A local business with a global impact mindset. 🌍 At Momo’s Sports Bar & Grill, generosity is always on the menu. Through their gift card match campaign, Rich Comunale and his customers raised $4,000 in just two weeks to provide hot, ready-to-eat meals for Long Islanders in need. This effort addresses a critical gap—prepared foods are often inaccessible through SNAP benefits. But thanks to Momo’s leadership and a community that steps up, families got the rare treat of a hot, no-prep meal. Cheers to businesses that give back and customers who make it possible! 🔗 Read how Momo’s is making a difference: https://buff.ly/40PMpkC #CorporateSocialResponsibility #MomosGivesBack #LongIslandCares #LocalBusinessImpact #HungerRelief

Education is meant to open doors—but for many students, hunger is a constant obstacle. Current SNAP regulations create unnecessary barriers for students in higher education, making it harder for them to access vital food assistance. The Enhanced Access to SNAP Act aims to change that by expanding eligibility for these students, empowering them to focus on their future instead of their next meal. Join us in advocating for solutions that strengthen our community and invest in our next generation. 🤝 #SocialImpact #SNAPForStudents #HungerFreeLI #FoodJustice #EducationMatters #LongIslandCares

Celebrating Partnerships that Change Lives 💚 Last week, we had the honor of hosting the Wounded Warrior Project, whose members volunteered their time to support our mission. Adding a slice of kindness, 7-Eleven Bayport donated pizzas to our veterans through their in-store promo—proving that small gestures make a big impact. 🍕 🤝 Together, we’re lifting underserved communities and showing our veterans how much they mean to us. #CorporateSocialResponsibility #VeteranSupport #WoundedWarriorProject #EndHunger #CommunityImpact #HungerFreeLI
