Today is National Intern Day, a celebration dedicated to recognizing the hard work and contributions of interns across various industries. At Loudoun Economic Development, we are excited to introduce you to three outstanding summer employees who have joined our team. Their fresh perspectives and enthusiasm have already made a significant impact on our ongoing projects and initiatives. First, meet Aaryan Kanhere, a rising sophomore at the University of Virginia majoring in Computer Science. During his summer at the DED, Aaryan is working with the strategic initiatives team and outside of his studies and work, he enjoys baking! Next, we have Amelia Smith, a rising junior at the College of William and Mary, who is majoring in International Relations and minoring in Data Science. She is also on the strategic initiatives team and her favorite activities outside of the office are playing rugby (she is a member of the NOVA Women’s Rugby team and also plays at William & Mary), mountain biking, and camping. Lastly, we are thrilled to introduce Lauren Walczyk, a rising senior at Fordham University who is double majoring in Political Science and Sociology. Lauren is working with the workforce development team and her favorite thing to do right now is crochet. These three interns are bringing their academic expertise to the table and infusing our department with fresh energy and innovative thinking. They are working on projects that will help further economic development efforts in Loudoun, supporting the region’s growth and sustainability. On National Intern Day, we celebrate Aaryan, Amelia, and Lauren for their outstanding contributions and look forward to seeing the impact they will continue to make throughout their careers. https://hubs.li/Q02HBXyj0

We are very excited for this partnership and what we can accomplish together!
We are thrilled to announce the signing of a significant partnership between the NOVA Hispanic American Chamber - Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber and Loudoun Economic Development This collaboration marks a pivotal milestone in our mission to foster economic growth and empowerment within our community. Buddy Rizer, Executive Director of Loudoun County Economic Development, and Susana Marino, M.S. President & CEO of NOVAHCC, stood together to celebrate this momentous occasion. This partnership is more than just an agreement; it is a testament to our shared commitment to supporting and elevating Hispanic businesses in Loudoun County. Hispanic residents make up approximately 15% of Loudoun County's population and have significantly contributed to the county's economic vitality. Hispanic-owned businesses now account for over 20% of all new business ventures in the area, spanning diverse industries from technology and professional services to retail and hospitality. Despite their impressive growth, Hispanic businesses still face challenges such as access to capital, networking opportunities, and business development resources. Through this partnership, the Northern Virginia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Loudoun County Economic Development aim to address these challenges head-on by providing Hispanic entrepreneurs with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed. Together, we will enhance access to funding, offer tailored business development programs, and create a robust network of mentors and peers. By promoting inclusivity and diversity in our economic strategies, we are not only driving equity but also fostering economic growth and innovation for the entire community. NOVAHCC expresses our deepest gratitude to the Loudoun County Economic Development team for their vision and dedication. This collaboration will unlock new opportunities, break down barriers, and create a more inclusive and prosperous future for all. Stay tuned for more updates on this incredible journey! #LoudounPossible #Partnership #EconomicGrowth #HispanicBusinesses #NOVAHCC #NorthernVirginia #CommunityEmpowerment #Inclusivity #Diversity #BusinessDevelopment #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #Virginia #SmallBiz https://biz.loudoun.gov/ https://lnkd.in/dq6hf759

Loudoun's youth have a great entrepreneurial mindset. Zach Suh, a hobby cook from Aldie, John Champe High School graduate, and rising sophomore at George Mason University (GMU), recently won both the top prize (in general entrepreneurship) and the Mason Choice Award in the Patriot Pitch Competition, a contest led by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Costello College of Business at GMU. The competition supports early-state business ventures for students and recent alumni who focus on STEM, public engagement, social impact, and general entrepreneurship. Zach developed a pitch for an idea called ElderlyEats, a subscription-based, home-delivery meal service. His project was inspired by his love for his grandmother, for whom he helped prepare nutritious, easy to eat meals, after seeing how she struggled to chew and swallow food while living with Alzheimer's. While ElderlyEats is still a concept, Zach plans to focus on school and hone his cooking skills and revisit the business idea when he is ready. Nearly 90% of all Loudoun businesses are small businesses. Several of them began on a napkin, some as a side hustle, and others as a pitch. It's amazing how innovation can manifest from personal experience and community support and transform into impactful business ventures. #LoudounPossible https://hubs.li/Q02H6kdk0

When business leaders, residents, and entrepreneurial-minded people get together to advocate for economic prosperity, wonderful things can happen. The Leesburg Movement, a grassroots nonprofit dedicated to driving economic growth in downtown Leesburg, recently secured a $15,000 grant from Virginia's Main Street and Community Business Launch program. Announced by Gov. Glenn Youngkin's office last week, these grants aim to revitalize historic commercial districts and foster the creation and expansion of small businesses. The Leesburg Movement will use its grant for the "Lassiter Way Beautification" project. We love to see it! Congratulations on your grant and we look forward to seeing the project prosper! #LoudounPossible https://hubs.li/Q02H4JKD0
