"Being a She Built This City participant has given me the skill to pursue my dreams of entrepreneurship and flip my own house." Katie Haller, who grew up in Ohio and worked as a self-employed photographer, nanny and housekeeper, discovered her passion for carpentry through She Built This City, a Lowe’s Foundation Gable Grant recipient. After completing their pre-apprenticeship program in January 2023, she began a two-year apprenticeship in April. Inspired by childhood visits to a historic cabin, Katie dreams of flipping her own house and breaking traditional gender norms in the trades. She loves connecting with homeowners and embraces the empowerment that comes with being a woman in this field, receiving encouragement along the way. SBTC is helping her build a future full of opportunities as she pursues her entrepreneurial dreams.
