  • Using shame as a motivator for people with ADHD can be extremely detrimental to our mental health. And it can be so second nature that we don’t realize we are doing it. The worst part is that we think it’s a solid option for motivation because it works…kinda… While it may initially spur immediate action, it ultimately leads to harm in the long run. Constantly fueling + feeling shame can have long-term consequences and significantly chip away at our self-trust. It has a profound impact on our self-esteem, causing insecurity, fear, and self-doubt. Your self-advocacy muscle weakens each time you choose shame as motivation.  The experience of shame can create feelings of embarrassment and humiliation. This is where the thoughts around wishing your brain was normal come into play…where you don’t ask for help or accommodations. You become your own bully and strengthen your neural pathways so that your brain can keep automatically choosing this route. The pervasive nature of shame can lead to a rejection of our own intuition and a lack of self-care. It makes us feel unworthy and undeserving, which can prevent us from prioritizing our well-being. Ultimately, shame is one of the worst jokes we can tell ourselves. It creates a cycle of self-deprecation and diminishes our sense of self-worth. Instead of succumbing to or actively choosing shame, it's crucial to embrace a healthy approach that honors and serves you.  There are better ways to motivate. I’d love for you to experience that kind of life.   • As an ADHD Coach and someone with ADHD, I’ve become intimately aware of the detrimental impact of self-punishment on my mental well-being. The fear of failure often leads to a cycle of negative self-talk and self-destructive behaviors, inhibiting growth and success. Living with ADHD poses unique challenges, and it’s crucial that we show ourselves compassion and understanding. Instead of punishing ourselves for perceived failures, let’s focus on celebrating our victories and learning from our experiences. By breaking free from self-sabotage, we empower ourselves to navigate the ups and downs of life with resilience and grace. Self-Sabotage comes in the form of avoidance, perfectionism, comparison, black & white thinking, catastrophizing, overgeneralization, judgment of your mental and emotional experience... Let’s embrace a culture of self-compassion and support within the ADHD community. By sharing our stories and fostering an environment of understanding, we can empower each other to rise above self-defeating thoughts and behaviors. Join me in championing self-compassion and self-awareness as we navigate the journey with ADHD.  It literally starts with how you treat yourself. It starts with YOU. Let’s remember that we deserve the same gentle kindness we extend others who experience daily struggles.   • I keep hearing this audio and every time I hear it, I think to myself how I wish it were text that I could save and refer back to. So, I made it. Not sure who this quote is from originally but I really appreciate it. Yes, to some it may feel oversimplified. I tend to believe the more complex advice gets, the less relevant it becomes.   • ✅ Forgiveness of others! ❌ Forgiveness for yourself... Self-compassion goes a long way but it can be challenge for ADHDers, especially my high-achieving queens. ⚠️ You've trained yourself to believe that being hard on yourself is the only way to succeed. ⚠️ You've used language for years that beats you into submission. ⚠️ Your self-talk goes back and forth between love and loathe. Dark thoughts enter and spiral down. ⚠️ You view your ADHD as a barrier to "being normal" and often hold judgment for your quirks and your symptoms. ⚠️ Your emotions hijack you from time to time as they are are a mix of high-highs and low-lows. ⚠️ You may even find it difficult to empathize with others because of how you've chosen to treat yourself over the years. It's time to release it all. The baggage, the guilt, the shame, the blame, the wrongs, the relationships, the never-happened, the good intentions, the sadness, the struggle, the limiting stories, the labels, the anger... If it's not serving your highest good and full potential, let it go. 😮💨 Release and forgiveness will lead to less stress, anxiety, depression and physical pain. It also helps with improving blood pressure and cholesterol! All are so helpful for a strong immune system. 💬 This may be new for you!   • YOU are a collection of thoughts and ideas. That's your self-concept.  Isn't that wild?  Some of my clients come to me asking, "Who Am I?" You know what I say...? "Who do you want to be?" As an improv comedian for over 20 years, I've drawn tremendous inspiration from playfully creating SOMETHING REAL out of nothing with only my imagination (and the imagination of my scene partners). Improv has informed my life in countless ways, especially in the realm of CREATION! Improv has shown me my immense power in making whatever I want to be the reality true.  ADHDers often look at their brains as a roadblock.  The neurotypical world has reinforced the idea that something is wrong with how you operate (think, feel, behave). You've likely morphed into what you thought had to become to thrive (relationships, career, education).  Studies show individuals with ADHD have a higher probability of having a distorted sense of self and can tend toward lower self-esteem.  That SAME brain and heart that's created a disconnect between the truth of who you WERE and the self of today...that's created internal fragmentation of all the parts of who you are... IT CAN BE HARNESSED TO CREATE YOUR NEW REALITY! Isn't that amazing?! With self-compassion and systems that serve your beautiful brain and heart, you can reclaim and redefine.  Who do you want to be? Who is your ideal-self...your MAIN CHARACTER self? What life is she living? What's the gap between you of today and your full-potential self?  It's time to close the gap. It's time to join every woman who has created their ideal self. This process is reliable, predictable and produces massive results every time.  DM or comment below "CREATE" and I'll send you my system.

  • REAL TALK It’s holding you back…these people you don’t even resonate with…the people who aren’t in alignment with you. You fear their words. It hurts.   • REFLECTING ON LIFE IN JOYFUL CELEBRATION July! Damn, you took me on a ride. It's been full-throttle.  I'm forever in awe of our ability to create the life we want. We get to wake up and choose every day to honor ourselves. My heart and mind is expanding beyond what I ever imagined and it's rocking my world (in some ways that freak me out even). 🤣 Excitement and fear can feel the same. We get to decide how we wield the power of the energy coursing through and around us. Harness your Main Character within and let her show you how good it can get.  My biggest takeaway from July? Surrender control and flow!
