Learn more Alison Bergeron: I currently serve as the case management lead for the First Judicial Circuit’s Truancy Reduction Court Program, a problem-solving court on Maryland’s lower eastern shore. My career with the Judiciary began just after college, and over time, I have grown in my role, enhancing my ability to support students and families in re-engaging with school and connecting to critical resources in our area. My responsibilities include supporting day-of-court operations, conducting case management reviews, and managing my own caseload of 30 participant families. Maryland’s truancy problem-solving courts, which originated on the shore, have been operational since 2004. Working with the Judiciary has been especially meaningful to me as a second-generation Judiciary employee. My mother’s lifelong career allowed me to "grow up in the courthouse," a unique benefit of small-town life, and complete several summer internships that ignited my interest in the field. The role I eventually earned has given me the opportunity to blend my passion for our judicial system, access to justice, and human services while growing alongside a dedicated team. Early in my career, I traveled to Guatemala with my manager on a humanitarian mission to build a home for a family in need. Now in this season of life, I am enjoying renovating our new family home with my husband with the support of our families. I am especially looking forward to seeing my son start his own school journey this coming fall!

Recently, Circuit Court for Montgomery County Judge Carlos Acosta hosted a group of Japanese students from American University's Washington College Of Law’s "sister" school in Kyoto, Japan – Ritsumeikan University School of Law. The group observed the closing arguments in a legal matter and heard the court deliver its opinion. After the proceeding, Judge Acosta spoke with the group, answered questions on court process and procedure, and provided a tour of the courthouse. Thanks for visiting us! #MDCourts #Law #Courts
