Taking stock of aging policy developments since 2020: some important hits, but too many misses. In the new issue of Public Policy and Aging Report, Christine Bishop, Laurel Beedon, and I published an article assessing Changes in the Aging Policy Landscape since the 2020 Election. https://lnkd.in/ewcPxQX9 Despite deep divisions, Congress and state government agencies took action to alleviate the dire economic and health toll inflicted by the COVID-19 pandemic on older adults. But as the pandemic faded into the past, so did the impetus to address the fundamental problems that pose the greatest long-term risk to the health and economic security of older adults: sustainable financing of Social Security and Medicare benefits and protection from the catastrophic cost of long-term care.
