Our AV solutions are far more than “robotaxis.” Robotaxis are often dropped into cities as driverless alternatives to ride-hailing services, but we think there’s a better way to handle the real-world transportation problems facing our communities. We team up with local governments, transit authorities, and community groups to make sure our AV solutions tackle real issues—from improving access to underserved areas to boosting existing public transit.

Our Accessibili-D deployment in Detroit underwent rigorous testing at the University of Michigan's Mcity and the American Center for Mobility. This included replicating real-world scenarios and utilizing our MPDM system to simulate thousands of potential actions per second. The result has been safe, smooth and efficient rides on Motor City streets. 👏

Providing transportation services is a business, not a side-hustle. I think this is the biggest problem with Tesla's plan for individual car owners to have their car autonomously moonlight as robo-taxis: who wants to get into their car in the morning only to find damage or debris from last night's mayhem? This week, Sydney Lake at Fortune wrote an article on this very topic (see article link in the comments below) including Uber's Dara Khosrowshahi skepticism about the model. Sydney also included my take from May Mobility's perspective: “It’s not viable. Individual car owners don’t want to be ‘landlords’ of their car. Riders are often hard on cars—they treat them poorly, make messes, slam doors—all because the vehicle is not theirs.”
