About us
Leaders in Design | Partners in Our Community Mackenzie’s dynamic and inviting culture is a reflection of everything we’ve created together, our diversity as a group, and over 60 years of shared experience, growth, and evolution. It’s what we, as a collective, are most proud of. Our diverse perspectives make our projects better, our teams stronger, and our lives richer. We do great work while making a difference in our people’s lives and the lives of people in our communities, and we believe this mix of hard work, intentional practice, and fun sets us apart. As Mackenzie has grown over the decades, a handful of common themes have emerged and evolved with the firm. We are committed to one another, and committed to seeing out the vision of the people and larger communities we serve. We’re committed to doing the necessary work to make our firm and our communities more equitable. We’re committed to making the world a sustainable, more livable place for future generations. These commitments and shared ideals are the foundation for our everyday work. They’re also the backdrop for a culture of friendship and resiliency that’s seen Mackenzie meet and overcome unexpected challenges with a sense of humor and a reserve of creativity and passion.

Yesterday, CIS (Citycounty Insurance Services) broke ground on their new Collaboration Center in Wilsonville, Oregon. The new Collaboration Center will serve as the hub for CIS employees and members. The Center will be full of natural light and contain a variety of workspaces to support the various modes of work. I will include an expansive member training room, 29 offices for focused work, open workstations, flexible meeting spaces, formal conference spaces, a large breakroom, and an outdoor patio. The design and construction team includes Mackenzie, Interface Engineering, Inc., Bremik Construction, and Cumming Group. Congratulations to CIS!

Last week, students completing internships at Perlo Construction and Mackenzie gathered for “Intern Day”. Perlo hosted the group at their (Mackenzie designed!) office. They were joined by professionals from both companies as they toured a project under construction and then gathered for a discussion about how they could use the skills they’re learning in school in a professional environment. Thank you to Perlo for hosting all of us. We’re excited to see what career paths these young people decide to take!

There's a good reason we're so excited about our newly renovated Equipment Yard...and we think you'll understand why if you watch this video. In the first few seconds you'll catch a glimpse of our old warehouse and administrative offices. Although it served us well for many decades, we were long overdue for an upgrade. We were very fortunate to have Mackenzie design us a new state-of-the-art space that will serve us well into the future. The redeveloped site significantly increased our storage space for equipment, dramatically improved our natural lighting, reduced our water usage with new plumbing fixtures and drought tolerant landscaping, improved and increased parking, and created designated spaces for our work trucks to turn around. We have a large training room and new meeting room that we're already putting to good use and we couldn't be happier with our new administrative offices. We now have the space and amenities we need to do our best work, and we couldn't be more pleased with how it turned out. Thank you, Mackenzie!

"With more space, we’ll be able to help more animals and people get the care they need all in one place," Ron Morgan, chief executive officer and president of DoveLewis Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Hospital, said to The Oregonian / OregonLive.com in a statement. Mackenzie is proud to be the designer of this new 30,000-square foot building. Skanska's team is well underway with the construction of it. The new facility will add 12 exam rooms, eight emergency treatment rooms, and three surgical suites. "The project would create 'ample room to grow' for a medical center that 'mirrors human healthcare models of immediate care, intensive care, advanced diagnostics, and specialty care teams working together.'"

Congratulations to Hoffman Construction Company on the opening of their newly renovated Equipment Yard! Mackenzie designed this new space to improve access and circulation, create new office areas, and to improve and expand warehouse and exterior yard areas. The redevelopment of their 17-acre Northeast Portland site incudes two new buildings with skylights and LED lighting fixtures with occupancy sensors, low flow plumbing fixtures, and solar panels on the roof; new landscaping areas with drought tolerant plant types; expanded storm water retention ponds; a new parking area; and new truck circulation routes.
We are very excited to share that Hoffman’s newly renovated Equipment Yard is open and we are now able to serve more clients, more efficiently than ever before. Our primary facility at the yard met the end of its useful life, so in 2019 we began Phase 1 of a complete replacement. The new state-of-the-art facility includes a brand-new warehouse, shop, administrative offices, conference/training rooms, and parking lots. We also installed several sustainability features, including a 100kw rooftop solar array (which is generating at least 70% of the facility’s power), water bottle filling stations, and off-site manufacturing capabilities. This project represents our company’s single largest investment - and we are proud that it’s in Portland, where Hoffman began, over 100 years ago. Here’s our President & CEO Dave Drinkward and Equipment Yard Manager Ryan Thrush at our recent Equipment Yard open house. #hoffmanbuilds

Milestone Expansion at DoveLewis! 🏥 DoveLewis has been a pillar in our #community for 50 years, and now we're more than DOUBLING our footprint with a second facility right across the street to help more #animals. This expansion ensures families can access comprehensive veterinary care, seamlessly integrating immediate, intensive, and specialty services in one centralized location, similar to human healthcare models. The facility will open in stages, with the first phase opening in November 2024. While this building was made possible by a visionary #donation, we still need your help to become fully operational! We're raising $7 million in community donations to cover the building's unique needs, specialty medical equipment, and an #endowment for our financial aid program for low-income families. Learn how you can be a part of this groundbreaking endeavor at https://bit.ly/4d7RBnl The project is designed by Mackenzie and is being built by Skanska. #DoveLewis #VeterinaryMedicine #CommunityImpact #AnimalWelfare #PDXPets
