Glossy Senior Beauty Reporter Emily Jensen spoke with MG2 Principal Melissa Gonzalez about pop-up culture. "Long lines can often be a sign of success, but Gonzalez said organizers need to be proactive about how consumers are experiencing long wait times, such as by sending out ambassadors to entertain those waiting in line or handing out free samples. 'You keep the positive energy while they're out there for you,' said Gonzalez, whose firm has created experiential pop-ups for likes of footwear brand SOREL and the Amazon Prime show 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.' 'That way, being in that line becomes part of the experience in a positive way, too.'" Read the entire piece in Glossy here: https://lnkd.in/gYnuigpe

Costco Wholesale Santa Fe, in Mexico City, seamlessly blends with the nearby community hub, Parque La Mexicana. "Amongst all the greenery, one would be hard-pressed to spot a 1/2-million-acre Costco warehouse, parking garage, and loading dock. Why? Because it's largely concealed under what is arguably the largest green roof ever to cover a retail building," writes W. Lee Shoemaker, Ph.D., PE for STRUCTURE Magazine. In his piece "A Sprawling Green Roof in Mexico City," he dives into all aspects of bringing this building to life - from metal building structural impacts and green roof considerations to seismic concerns and poor soil. "Every hurdle we overcame and every milestone we reached added to a growing sense of achievement that culminated when we witnessed the impact of our work firsthand-the creation of a space that enriches lives and fosters a strong community spirit," said MG2 Architect Maribel Barba, AIA. Recently highlighted in Retail TouchPoints by Editor Adam Blair, "For the Thrill of It: Eatertainment Experiences That Cater to All" dives into the key drivers of a successful eatertainment venue. "There’s a reason that 'eat' comes first in 'eatertainment.' 'People want to have a one-stop destination, and if you can do that successfully, you’ll earn more of their time and wallet,' said Melissa Gonzalez." “'If an eatertainment environment can instantly capture a consumer’s attention and facilitate a feeling of wonderment and connectivity throughout, they are likely to cement their reputation for being a fun-filled shared experience that consumers will want to visit again,' wrote Gonzalez and Nicole Pokorny Forster, M.S. in the report." Multi-Housing News Associate Editor Madalina Pojoga spoke with MG2 Principal and design lead of 6 Corners Lofts Jooyeol Oh about adaptive-reuse and his redesign of a 1928 Sears store and warehouse in Chicago. "The Six Corners Shopping District has a long history as a popular and successful neighborhood shopping and entertainment destination serving the community. Preserving the character of one of its most beloved landmarks was a crucial consideration for us. "There were three main design elements we wanted to highlight: the vernacular architecture of the surrounding brick buildings, the juxtaposition of old and new, and a celebration of the Art Deco style."
