About us

Mid-Carolina Electric Cooperative is a not-for-profit, member-owned electric distribution utility headquartered in Lexington, South Carolina. From the original construction of power lines that carried electricity to rural areas needing it most to fiber optic internet and smart grid technology, Mid-Carolina delivers what matters and is deeply committed to the communities we call home. Mid-Carolina is the fifth largest of South Carolina’s 20 electric cooperatives and serves more than 47,000 member-owners in Lexington, Richland, Newberry, Saluda and Aiken counties. Together these cooperatives deliver electricity to more than 500,000 members across 70 percent of the state.

  • We were proud to participate in Co-op Day at the State House on today! This event showcased the unity and strength of the South Carolina cooperative community, highlighting our shared commitment to serving you, our valued members. One of the highlights of the day was the honor of capturing a photo with Gov. Henry McMaster, emphasizing collective missions of cooperatives statewide. Thank you to all of our board members who participated, to our linemen (Julius Lybrand and Jason Longshore) and employees who met with key stakeholders, and to the lawmakers who took the time to stop by and say hello! Stay tuned for more photos and an exclusive recap of Co-op Day at the State House in the upcoming edition of SC Living magazine! #InYourCorner #ILoveMyCoop #CommunityUnity #MidCarolinaElectricCooperative #ServingYou #CoopDay

  • Giving back to the community is the cooperative way. Today, we were thrilled to present the Lexington Medical Center Foundation with $10,000 for Becky's Place Boutique. This incredible contribution was the fruit of our annual charity golf tournament this fall, where our community came together to make a difference. The funds raised at the tournament will help provide wigs and prostheses for cancer patients struggling with the side effects of chemotherapy and add to the more than $200,000 we've raised for Becky's Place over the past 22 years. Thank you to all the sponsors, volunteers and supporters. Together, we're impacting lives and spreading hope! #InYourCorner #CommunityImpact #ConcernForCommunity #CooperativePrinciples #MidCarolinaElectric #BeckysPlaceBoutique
