Huge news for region and beyond today. The Wisconsin BioHealth Tech Hub was named one of 12 tech hubs to receive Phase 2 funding from the U.S. Department of Commerce's Regional Technology and Innovations Hub program. The $49 million grant provides a monumental boost to the state's biohealth sector and will position Wisconsin as a leader in personalized health. A picture-perfect day to celebrate an exciting new project in Pleasant Prairie, Wis.! WestRock Company and Dermody Properties broke ground on a 580,000-square-foot sustainable paper manufacturing facility, which will serve as the regional hub for its corrugated operations. M7 was proud to partner with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, the Village of Pleasant Prairie and the Kenosha Area Business Alliance to bring this project to reality. The groundbreaking today kicks off work on Dermody's LogistiCenter at the Pleasant Prairie Industrial Park. A banner day for economic development in Wisconsin and another huge step forward for the M7 Region! Staff members from both MMAC and M7 - including Dale Kooyenga, Timothy Sheehy, Jim Paetsch, Rebecca Gries and Lynn Olberding - were on hand to take part in Microsoft's major announcement regarding their $3.3 billion data center project in the Village of Mount Pleasant. Microsoft's investment in southeastern Wisconsin is expected to spur 2,000 permanent jobs and 2,300 construction jobs during the course of project. The company is making a robust commitment to train 100,000 Wisconsinites in AI through community partnerships around the state. Pharmaceutical leader Eli Lilly and Company is coming to the region. Today they announced their purchase of the Nexus Pharmaceuticals production facility in the Village of Pleasant Prairie. Milwaukee 7 assisted Nexus Pharmaceuticals in expanding into Kenosha County in 2021. "We are grateful for the significant investment Nexus Pharmaceuticals has made in southeastern Wisconsin. They are a great example of innovation within the sector and have been integral in the sustained growth and economic development of the I-94 corridor in Kenosha and Racine counties," said Jim Paetsch, Senior Vice President and Executive Director of M7.
