  • Today marks the 6-month anniversary since Hurricane Helene. Our was profoundly impacted, but all of us at Mission Health stood ready to serve. In the midst of a disaster, our hospitals become more than sites of care. They are beacons of hope. Mission Health teams used the resources provided by HCA Healthcare and partnered with local officials, first responders and other partner organizations to meet the needs of all who came in search of help. HCA Healthcare’s unique ability to partner with key organizations and tap into vital resources ensured our patients, colleagues and community members were cared for in the ways that matter most. • #DYK that March 19th was pharmacy residency match day? This year, we are excited to welcome six new and two returning pharmacy residents to our team at Mission Hospital. According to American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, pharmacy residency positions for postgraduate year one (PGY1) and postgraduate year two (PGY2) pharmacy residency programs are offered to applicants through the ASHP Resident Matching Program (the "Match"). The Match provides an orderly process to help applicants obtain positions in residency programs of their choice, and to help programs obtain applicants of their choice. Similar matching programs are in use in many other health professions, including medicine, dentistry, psychology, podiatry, optometry, and others. • Mission Hospital is honored to have been recognized with the 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award by Healthgrades for providing exceptional, patient-centered care. This annual recognition is given to the top 10% of hospitals for their commitment to delivering safe, high-quality care. Recognition on this list is based solely on patient outcomes. To determine the top-performing hospitals for patient safety, Healthgrades evaluated risk-adjusted complication and mortality rates for approximately 4,500 hospitals nationwide. The annual study found that patients treated in hospitals that received the 2025 Patient Safety Excellence Award have a significantly lower chance of experiencing certain complications than patients treated at non-recipient hospitals. Visit MissionHealth.org to learn more about our excellent care options.

  • We couldn't be more proud of Tracey Gates, Trauma Program Injury Prevention and Outreach Coordinator, for being awarded the HCA Healthcare Innovative Injury Prevention Program of the Year. Tracey was instrumental in developing the Rachel Silver Distracted Driving Program that she teaches at local high schools and in drivers education programs. This program aims to aid new drivers with the knowledge of safe driving and what distracted driving looks like. She also helps empower the students to be active passengers and advocate for themselves in unsafe situations. Today, Mission Hospital celebrated 28 graduates of our Nurse Aide Training Program (NATP)! We are honored to be able to educate and develop the next generation of nursing assistants right here in our hospital. Participation in the six week NATP is a paid position, which allows those who have an interest in a healthcare career, but face time constraints or financial obstacles, to obtain the education they desire. At the end of the program, students sit for the NC Certified Nursing Assistant exam so they can begin providing care to our community within our hospital. If you are interested in learning more about our NATP, visit https://bit.ly/3F7fvDJ
