The ESI is proud to have served as a knowledge partner for the 2024 AFS Youth Assembly, which took place earlier this month. At the event, our own Laur Hesse Fisher moderated a panel entitled “Shifting the Narrative to Drive Climate Action,” which discussed building a framework for effectively engaging different audiences on climate change issues. This panel was a part of the “Transform Our Future: Unite for Climate Action” track at the conference, which was designed in part by the ESI and consisted of panels and workshops that explored what systemic, policy, governmental, and individual changes can be made to further climate action across the globe. Congrats to the ESI's Chris Rabe, who has recently been promoted from postdoctoral associate to education program director! We are looking forward to the future of the program with him at the helm. “With the launch of the Climate Project, this is a very exciting moment at MIT to start directing the Education Program at the Environmental Solutions Initiative (ESI)," Chris says. "Now there is an even greater need to assess and expand innovative climate education practices for teaching and learning across disciplines at MIT and beyond. To do this, one of our primary goals is to convert our existing research program into a more robust Climate Education Lab (CEL).” Join us in celebrating Chris's new role and the bright future of climate education at MIT! 🎉
