🔍 Women’s Autonomy & HIV Testing in Cambodia: Why It Matters 💪🏽❤️ Did you know that a woman’s ability to make her own decisions at home can influence whether she gets tested for HIV? A recent study by Dr. Wah Wah Myint on Cambodian women (ages 15–49) reveals a powerful connection between decision-making autonomy and HIV testing rates. 📊 Key Findings: ✅ Women with more control over household & reproductive health decisions were more than twice as likely to get tested. ✅ Higher education & wealth also increased testing rates. ✅ Women in urban areas were significantly more likely to get tested than those in rural regions. ❌ Women with discriminatory attitudes towards HIV were less likely to seek testing. 💡 Why This Matters: HIV testing is a critical step in preventing transmission & accessing treatment, but lack of autonomy, rural barriers, and stigma still hold many women back.
