Meet Joseph Tampone (He/Him), Video Editor Joseph Tampone dreamed of a career in sports ever since he was a child. During college, he discovered his love for video editing and knew he wanted to tell stories that resonated with fans through humanizing professional athletes. Before joining the National Hockey League, Joe worked for the University of Dayton and the New York Yankees. At the University of Dayton, Joe led the charge in creating content for all the University's teams, and assisting the players in developing content for their channels. As a lifelong New York Yankee fan, serving as the team's social media assistant during the 2021 season was a career highlight for him. At the start of the 2022-23 season, Joe brought his skills to the National Hockey League's social media team as a video editor for player content and development. Joe's role evolved and he now primarily creates video content for the NHL's X, Instagram, and Facebook channels. Every day is different for his team as the subjects of the videos come from current stories in the League, such as recent live game action or NHL tentpole events. Joe is on-site capturing video and photo content at the NHL's events while not editing videos. Another career bucket list item for Joe has been capturing and creating content for the Stanley Cup Final. However, his most memorable moment is when he captured Connor McDavid's overtime game-winning goal during the 4 Nations Face-Off Championship. Joe captured on the glass and shared this footage with the publishing team in real-time. The video reached 3 million views across social media platforms and nearly 750,000 in engagement. Joe is proud to have played a role in this iconic NHL moment. It is his dream to continue storytelling the behind-the-scenes of professional sports, and Joe is very proud of all he has accomplished so early on in his career. He believes his success is derived from his family. As triplets, Joe and his two sisters have always had a friendly, competitive nature that pushes them to be the best versions of themselves. He hopes to see the NHL lead the space for sports social media as they continue to create compelling content that steps outside the box.
