Last week we hosted the first BioFORCE summer camp since 2019! We hosted 11 high schoolers from across Texas to introduce them to the world of biomanufacturing! Students learned about the drug development pipeline with a focus on the manufacturing side of things. Activities included cleanroom gowning, aseptic transfers in a BSC, bacterial transformation, optical density measurements, eukaryotic cell counting, chromatography, and more! We want to thank the Sacchettini lab & Dr. Krieger for allowing our campers to tour their drug discovery facilities and Fujifilm Diosynth Biotechnologies for giving a tour of their manufacturing site. I'd like to thank our careers panel participants for illustrating the variety of positions and journeys within this industry! Thank you Stefan, Marc, Steven, Baley, and Patricia for inspiring these students. This camp ignited their interest in the biomanufacturing industry and we hope some of them choose to be part of the future workforce :) #NCTM #TEESresearch #tamu #Bioforce #stemcamp #biomanufacturing #biotech #summercamp

NCTM is thrilled to announce we've been awarded a NSF ExLENT grant! We are partnering with MSIs from around the U.S. to offer hands-on biomanufacturing training to students who would otherwise be unable to access this kind of education. We will be hosting 3 classes this summer: Biopharma Bootcamp, cGMP Biomanufacturing of Vectors for Gene Therapy, and Hands-on Manufacturing of mRNA Vaccines & Therapeutics. We're looking forward to meeting the students and furthering their biomanufacturing journeys! https://lnkd.in/giH4gy5A #NCTM #TEESresearch #tamu #NSF #ExLENT #biomanufacturing #training

NCTM team members Baley and Patricia had a great time networking with other industry professionals and workforce development colleagues at the annual NIIMBL National Meeting in DC this week. Baley presented on two NCTM programs to highlight some of the advances workforce development initiatives are making: 1) Building testbeds at MSI's (Minority Serving Institutions) for biomanufacturing training and 2) the new Hands-on Manufacturing of mRNA Vaccines & Therapeutics course at NCTM. As always it was great catching up with old friends and meeting with new collaborators! Can't wait for next year! 😊 #NCTM #teesresearch #tamu #workforcedevelopment #biomanufacturing #NIIMBL
