(Formerly East Boston Neighborhood Health Center) Community. Wellness. Together.

About us

NeighborHealth, formerly East Boston Neighborhood Health Center, is one of the nation’s largest Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) and the largest community-based primary care health system in Massachusetts, serving over 120,000 people and recognized by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) as a National Quality Leader. For more than 50 years, NeighborHealth has offered access to comprehensive primary care, specialty care and emergency care for patients in the Commonwealth. In a first-of-its-kind merger in 2020, East Boston Neighborhood Health Center joined forces with the South End Community Health Center and expanded services to patients who live and work in Boston’s South End and Roxbury neighborhoods. NeighborHealth champions innovative care models to actively bridge health equity gaps in our low-income and immigrant communities with services unique from other health care providers in our state. In addition to primary and specialty care, NeighborHealth operates Massachusetts’ only satellite Emergency Department, which is the fourth busiest ED in Boston and is co-located with advanced radiology, including CT scan services, same-day Behavioral Health Urgent Care and an integrated pharmacy. Today, NeighborHealth remains dedicated to promoting and sustaining healthy communities, families, and individuals both in and out of the exam room by providing accessible, person-centered, compassionate, and high-quality health care services.

NeighborHealth's summer BBQ, dedicated to our esteemed staff and their families, was a wonderful celebration of their hard work and dedication. We all enjoyed a fantastic day with family, friends, and colleagues. We thank everyone for their commitment to our mission and look forward to celebrating more successes together! A special thank you to The Tall Ship for their generous discount, which allowed us to host this year's event at their beautiful location.

Our Children’s Vision Awareness event at NeighborHealth South End was a huge success! 🎉 We provided over 40 free pairs of glasses to kids in our community, performed 20 vision screenings, and gave away 60 backpacks filled with back-to-school supplies. This event, part of National Health Center Week, aimed to ensure our children have the tools they need for a healthy and successful school year. Thank you to the Optical team for making this day so special! 👓✨   #NHCW2024 #NeighborHealth #NeighborHealthSouthEnd

We want to remind everyone about the importance of regular screening of your patients.    During the pandemic, some essential health service visits, including cervical cancer screenings, felt less urgent—but screening for and helping to prevent cervical cancer needs to be prioritized again.    NeighborHealth recently completed a quality improvement program that shows what we, as health providers, can do to improve cervical cancer screenings overall – helping more women and saving more lives. We invite you to read the attached article to learn more about the study and ways health care centers can improve screening outcomes in the future.

This past weekend, our NeighborHealth team attended the 2024 Annual PSI Conference in Washington, DC. They not only expanded their knowledge of maternal health but also learned how to more actively advocate for our patients by providing crucial resources and support. The conference also highlighted national efforts to emphasize Perinatal Mental Health expansion. We’re thrilled about the knowledge and skills they’ve brought back and can’t wait to see the impact on our patient care and advocacy efforts.
