Last week, our Newmont Australia team attended the International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), Australia's largest mining event where global mining leaders connect with technology, finance and the future. Our team enjoyed taking part in discussions and networking with like-minded professionals. We were also proud to sponsor, in partnership with the CoRE Learning Foundation, the Gamification Zone of the NextGen STEM-focused program, designed for the next generation of workers in the mining and resources sector. Thank you to our incredible speakers and panelists Brooke Adamson, Chris Twaddle and Mel Winks, and our mining graduates, for their outstanding representation of Newmont. Your efforts have made us all proud! #Newmont #GoldMining #CopperMining #IMARC2024 #MolybdenumProcessing #MiningInnovation

📢 Newmont Perú’s Yanacocha operation has inaugurated the region’s first drinking water system through tubular wells, ‘Qhapac Ñan.’ Joined by the U.S. Ambassador to Peru, Stephanie Syptak-Ramnath, this inauguration represents a crucial milestone in addressing the challenges of climate change, population growth and lack of water infrastructure in the Cajamarca area. The Qhapac Ñan system has a storage capacity of 1,100 cubic meters, allowing drinking water to be available 24 hours a day to more residents of Cajamarca and reducing the access gap to water in the city. Three additional systems of tubular wells and reservoirs are planned in Ajoscancha, Huacariz and Chontapaccha to reduce this access gap by up to 90% by 2026. Through the “Water Unites Us” program, our Yanacocha operation is committed to working alongside institutions and authorities to build a more equitable, sustainable and prosperous future for Cajamarca. #Newmont #GoldMining #ResponsibleMining

“Not a day has gone by without learning something new.” This is how Mary Simi describes her career at Newmont’s Lihir operation in Papua New Guinea. Mary joined the Lihir operation over two decades ago in 2002 – just five years after its first gold pour – where her colleagues affectionately know her as Mother Mary, Young Mary and Hahine Korikori (meaning real or true woman). Today, Mary leads a team, submitting high-quality applications for work permits and employment visas required when technical specialists from abroad are hired at the Lihir operation. More than a colleague to her Newmont team, Mary is a cheerful mother figure who’s described as lighting up every room with her joyful mood. Help us celebrate Mother Mary with a 👏 in the comments below ⬇️ Are you curious about a career in mining?
