Tech Tip Thursday: AI, Brain Tech, and Emerging Technologies—How Should We Approach Them? AI and neurotechnology, like smart earbuds and VR headsets that track your focus and stress levels, are already changing the way we live and work. States like Colorado and California are leading the way with laws to protect neural data and make sure this innovation benefits everyone, but it raises an important question for all of us: How should we approach these rapidly emerging technologies? It’s not just about when to use them, but how we adopt them in ways that balance innovation with privacy and ethical considerations. Globally, organizations like UNESCO are working on guidelines to ensure we keep our cognitive liberty intact, even as technology advances. For a deeper dive into how AI and brain tech are reshaping our world, and why protecting your "cognitive liberty" is so important, check out the latest episode of The TED Conferences AI Show: Can AI Read Your Mind? The Battle for Your Brain with ethicist Nita Farahany, hosted by Bilawal Sidhu. Today, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and reflect on the strength and courage shown in the face of tragedy. Let’s take a moment to remember the unity, resilience, and hope that emerged from such a dark day. #NeverForget

Hey everyone! The State of Nevada Office of The Chief Information Officer just released a Public Meeting Hosting Guide to help our State agencies, boards, and commissions navigate the sometimes tricky process of setting up and running public meetings on platforms like Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Zoom, and Webex. Just a heads-up though: Microsoft Teams is the only enterprise-supported platform by the state. The other platforms—Google Meet, Webex, and Zoom—are included as a reference for organizations, boards, committees, etc., that fall outside the state’s supported tools. We all know how technology can sometimes throw us a curveball, especially when time is tight. This guide is here to make things easier, offering practical steps to manage permissions, control screen sharing, and keep your meetings secure. But remember, updates happen, and things can change fast—so while this guide is a great starting point, always stay flexible and ready to adjust. Check out the guide here: https://lnkd.in/gwuq8EEj We’re all learning and adapting together, and this is just one tool to help make the process smoother. Let’s continue to advocate for tech solutions that make public service better for everyone! #NevadaOCIO #PublicMeetings #TechInGov #StayFlexible #BetterTogether
