OhioGuidestone wishes all who observe a happy Yom Kippur! Yom Kippur is one of the holiest days of the Jewish year, known as the Day of Atonement. It is a day marked by fasting, intense prayer, and seeking forgiveness for sins. Jews are required to fast for an entire day and spend the day focused on introspection and reconciliation with God.

National Coming Out Day, observed annually on October 11th, is a time for LGBTQ+ individuals to be supported to come out to trusted loved ones or peers about their sexual orientation or gender identity. The day is celebrated to promote visibility, acceptance, and equality for the LGBTQ+ community. For a behavioral health organization like OhioGuidestone, National Coming Out Day is particularly important because it highlights the mental health challenges that LGBTQ+ individuals may face in an environment where they don't feel accepted or supported. Coming out can be a daunting and even risky experience, and it can lead to feelings of anxiety, depression, and isolation if the person doesn't feel fully accepted by their peers or loved ones. OhioGuidestone's AFFIRM program is specifically designed to provide support and resources to LGBTQ+ individuals, helping them to cope with the challenges they may encounter and to live authentic and fulfilling lives. We were honored to host the Cleveland Leadership Center Class of 2025 at our 3500 Carnegie location in Cleveland. The group gathered to hear from OhioGuidestone on our efforts to reduce disparities in care, treatment outcomes, and access to services in the Central Neighborhood of Cleveland and across the communities we serve. Assistant Vice President of DEI&B Ryan Zymler kicked off the presentation with a discussion on the importance of using equity primes to ground us in our values and to remind us that disparities are about systems and not simply cause and effect. Assistant Regional Vice President of Operations Tiffany Banks led the presentation on the work we are doing to show up when, where, and how our clients need us, and to build collaborative partnerships to deepen our impact in the communities we serve. Vice President of Regional Operations Holli Ritzenthaler shared the work of OhioGuidestone’s Institute of Family and Community Impact to leverage innovation, research, and advocacy to empower families and communities, and equip professionals. Afterwards CEO Brant Russell, Chief Strategy and Legal Officer Mary Hirschauer Stiles, LSW, MSW, JD, and the team fielded questions about OhioGuidestone and how we are furthering our goals to deliver person-centered care with compassion and respect. Thank you to everyone for visiting us. We love sharing what makes OhioGuidestone Where New Paths Begin!
