Last Tuesday, Open House New York board member and architect at Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU), Ruchika Modi, led an exclusive tour of The Refinery at Domino for members of OHNY's Open Council. Guests enjoyed panoramic views of the Manhattan skyline from the domed glass penthouse behind the iconic Domino Sugar sign, explored the fifth-floor terrace, and admired the stunning office spaces. Thank you to Practice for Architecture and Urbanism (PAU) and Two Trees Management Co. for the opportunity to learn about and explore this remarkable adaptive reuse project. Photo credit: Ben Helmer

Last night, Open House New York celebrated the launch of The Urbanist: Dan Doctoroff and the Rise of New York with Phaidon at a sold-out evening at The Shed (NY). The conversation on May 20, featuring Rohit Aggarwala, Robert Hammond, Purnima K., and Andrew Winters and moderated by Open House New York’s board vice chair Saundra Thomas, delved into Doctoroff’s indelible role during a period of unprecedented growth—and the future he opened for the city. In a letter from Dan Doctoroff to event attendees, he said "New York is the greatest city in the world. Nowhere will you find more energy, optimism, or openness. That is why my time serving the city was the greatest experience of my life." Photos by Michael Lee
