    Owner at ABA Enhancement, LLC

🚨 **Attention BCBAs!** 🚨 In the demanding world of behavior analysis, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle. We are passionate about making a difference, but it’s crucial to remember that work-life balance is just as important for us as it is for our clients. 🌱 Turning off work at the end of the day isn’t just about resting; it’s about recharging and ensuring that we bring our best selves to the table every single day. That’s why at ABA Enhancement, we prioritize using tools like OpenPhone to help our clinicians truly disconnect. 📱 OpenPhone allows our team to manage work communications efficiently, ensuring that when it’s time to clock out, they can do so without lingering distractions. This means more quality time for personal life, hobbies, and self-care, which ultimately leads to a more focused and effective practice when we’re back in action. Remember: A balanced BCBA is a better BCBA. Let’s lead by example and ensure we’re practicing what we preach—self-care and mindfulness. 💪✨ #BCBA #WorkLifeBalance #SelfCare #BehaviorAnalysis #OpenPhone #ABATherapy

Our Y Combinator application video for the Summer 2018 batch is now out in the open! (See what we did there?) In the spirit of paying it forward, we’ve decided to share our original application and video to help founders applying for the upcoming YC Fall 2024 batch. Check out the link in the comments. Best of luck to all the applicants!

    Co-Founder at OpenPhone

Back in 2020 we published OpenPhone's YC application for the Summer 2018 batch. It’s been seen by 12,354 people since then and I’ve met folks who told me they read our application and found it helpful—which was so special. So I convinced Mahyar Raissi to also publish our application video which has been collecting dust until now. It’s always a little uncomfortable to watch yourself on video, especially those older videos, but it is cringe for the greater good. 😅 Since Y Combinator just announced the first-ever Fall batch, I bet there are thousands of founders applying right now just like we did and recording their version of this video. I know how stressful that is so hopefully this can help someone. We recorded a couple of takes of this video and didn’t sweat it too much. It would’ve helped if we didn’t wait until 1 day before the deadline to do so, but that’s what deadlines are for :) Want to see our full application? Leaving link in comments.

Today has been a blast sharing more about partnerships with you. To round off the day, I had the pleasure of meeting John MacGaffey in person for the first time—a special moment for a 100% remote team! John is the true OG when it comes to partnerships at OpenPhone. Before I joined the team, John launched our affiliate program, and it’s been a lot of fun teaming up with him. Our partner program currently consists of affiliate and referral partners, and we’re excited to bring our API to market this fall. If you have a community of entrepreneurs who’d benefit from OpenPhone, you can apply to become a partner (link in the comments). I hope you’ve enjoyed my LinkedIn takeover. Thanks for tuning in, and see you next time! 👋 Juraj Pal, signing off.

Juraj Pal here again. You may be wondering, what exactly do ✨ partnerships ✨ mean? The term gets thrown around a lot, and we see examples of partnerships all around us every day. One of the more common misconceptions is that partnerships are just sales by another name. But to us at OpenPhone, partnerships exist to extend the reach of our product and raise the credibility of our brand. Whether it’s working with doola to help their customers get a dedicated business phone number after they incorporate, or integrating OpenPhone with HubSpot CRM so that our users can build better customer relationships, partnerships enable all these workflows. Here’s a sneak peek into my talk at #Catalyst24 tomorrow, featuring some of our amazing partners. What’s one example of a partnership you’ve noticed in the wild? 🐘

Hey friends — Juraj Pal here! 👋 I lead our Partnerships team at OpenPhone, and today I’m taking over our LinkedIn while attending #Catalyst24 in Chicago, the conference by Partnership Leaders 🔥 First, a little about me: I live in Vancouver, BC with my wife, daughter, and our shepherd-mix rescue. I’m originally from Bratislava, Slovakia, but I’ve also called Copenhagen, Hong Kong, London, San Francisco, and New York home. I got into partnerships back in 2015, like most, by accident. I joined Slido as a generalist early employee when it was a small bootstrapped startup, and eventually grew to lead the team through the acquisition by Cisco in 2021 as their VP of Partnerships and Product. Earlier this year, I had the opportunity to join OpenPhone at a pivotal time for the company, and I’m excited to be building from 0 to 1 again. Throughout the day, I’ll try to give you a realistic impression of what working in partnerships looks like, and share more about what partnerships mean to us at OpenPhone. Got questions about partnerships? Leave them in the comments 👇

Today has been a lot fun sharing how our team of sellers perform like athletes. In closing, I’ll share my advice for folks looking to break into sales leadership. Last week, Léon Marchand swam to 4x gold & 1x bronze medal after training under Michael Phelps. 🏅 Just as great athletes pass down their wisdom, great sellers do the same when stepping into management. Here are the 3 things great sales leaders do: 1 - Walk the walk Having firsthand experience as a seller is essential for building a team that's eager to learn from you. Putting yourself in their shoes helps identify areas for growth and refinement. 2 - Teach success Create a repeatable and coachable formula that can guarantee success. It fosters trust and encourages sellers to follow your lead. Don’t be complacent always telling sellers what to do— jump in and lead by example from time to time. Your team will respect you more for it. 3 - Lead with pride Great leaders are fulfilled by helping others exceed their limits. Make it your mission to forge a path of success for each seller and champion them when needed. This fosters a culture of motivated sellers. After all, a successful team is the ultimate reflection of the work put in by their leader. I hope you’ve enjoyed my LinkedIn takeover! Thanks for tuning in and see you next time, 👋 Melissa Bates signing off

Do you text your customers and prospects? 📲 Melissa Bates here again. At OpenPhone, we know people prefer texting over calling, so our team texts daily. OpenPhone makes it super easy, and we'd be crazy not to use it. Here’s our process: Prospects fill out our "Contact Sales" form and book a meeting. If the meeting is a few days out, we follow up via text to stay top of mind. This proactive engagement reassures customers that we’re ready and eager to meet their needs. Just like how athletes adjust their techniques for better performance, we adapt our sales tactics to match evolving customer preferences. Texting opens a convenient communication line early on, helping customers get the clarity they need to move fast. Integrating SMS into our daily workflows lets our small but mighty team of 8 assist hundreds of customers weekly. Do you text your customers and prospects? P.S. - We’re clearly dog people over here 🐶

Hi again! Melissa Bates here 👋 Has anyone else lost their voice from cheering on Team USA? I’m fired up after watching athletes like Katie Ledecky and Simone Biles make history this past week. 🇺🇸 Sales and sports have a lot in common, which is why many athletes are drawn to it. Top sellers and top athletes both know: 1 - Practice makes perfect The best sellers don’t wait until showtime to practice. They record and review their calls, seek feedback from peers and mentors, and constantly work on their skills. Our “Tuesday film review” at OpenPhone is just like an NFL quarterback watching game film. 2 - Teamwork is everything Top sellers share best practices, learn from each other, and challenge the status quo. Instead of always turning to your manager, try asking your peers for advice. At OpenPhone, our “first response” process was built by sharing ideas across our team. 3 - Break down goals Successful sellers, like athletes, break down big goals into manageable tasks. A quarterly quota is like a marathon—26 miles is overwhelming, but 1 mile 26 times feels more doable. By controlling inputs for a short duration, we stay on pace. I might be a little biased, but sales is quite fun when you think of it as a sport. Obligatory photo from my swim days to prove it.
