We are so proud to be a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools partner! Thank you, CMS, for highlighting our program and staff and parents. *Take a look at the beautiful video! This is focused on our Southwest side afterschool programs (happening at Pinewood Elementary), where over 80% of our kids are Latinos and 66% of them are English Language Learners. The celebration you see is one of our many annual family events at the church across the street from the school, very close to where our families live. #HispanicHeritageMonth #Community #OSTPrograms #Afterschool #newcomers #ELLs #Diversity #Inclusion #LERDs

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Success 🎉 Today, we celebrated a significant milestone with the grand opening of The Charlotte is Home Center. As ourBRIDGE for KIDS, we are incredibly proud to partner with Carolina Migrant Network and Charlotte Community Health Clinic to provide vital resources and support to our immigrant neighbors and families. Our center aims to cultivate a sense of belonging and safety, supporting our community with the tools for economic stability and long-term physical and socio-emotional well-being. A special thank you to Lowe's Companies, Inc. for choosing us as part of the #LowesHometowns project! Your support and the hard work of Lowes volunteers on Red Vest Day helped make this day possible. We are also grateful to Aldersgate Living for providing us with a center where we can continue our mission for the greater Charlotte area. This achievement would not have been possible without your generosity. A special thank you to Congresswoman Alma Adams for your unwavering support of our mission and for joining us on this momentous day. Finally, thank you to all our partners, board members, and staff who have supported us and helped bring this vision to life. Being here today highlights the collective effort and dedication to making a lasting impact in the greater Charlotte community. Because, after all, this is The Charlotte is Home Center. -— #Ourbridgeforkids #Charlotteishomecenter #Carolinamigrantnetwork #Charlottecommunityhealthclinic —— Music track: Sky by Ocean Bloom Source: https://lnkd.in/dPgpHCQv Free To Use Music for Video

Today was a fantastic day at the Charlotte is Home Center, thanks to our incredible volunteers from Lowe's Companies, Inc. Home Improvement for making Red Vest Day with The Charlotte is Home Center, Carolina Migrant Network, Charlotte Community Health Clinic and ourBRIDGE for KIDS a day to remember. With over 25 Lowe’s volunteers, we mounted TVs, installed shelves, built picnic tables, moved mulch, potted plants, constructed chairs and desks, and so much more. We couldn’t have done it without you—thank you! —— #LowesHometowns #Ourbridgeforkids #Carolinamigrantnetwork #Charlottecommunityhealthclinic —— Music track: City Lights by Moavii Source: https://lnkd.in/dPgpHCQv Copyright Free Music for Video

We are thrilled to be featured in Jen Tota McGivney's latest column for Charlotte Magazine! 🌟 Our silent book club fundraiser with That's Novel Books was a night of community, connection, and the joy of reading. Thank you to everyone who made it possible and to Jen for capturing the spirit of the evening! Read Jen's latest column here: https://lnkd.in/eFfMxubv
A couple months ago, That's Novel Books helped host a silent book club fundraiser for OurBridge for Kids (best non-profit in the city, says me). OurBridge supplied the venue and recommended reading list; That's Novel came with books and charcuterie. We just hung out together beneath a canopy of trees, enjoying snacks and quiet reading. Bliss. I want this to happen everywhere, this alliance of nonprofits and indie bookstores and people who want to create positive change. At a time of unprecedented book bans, this is what the opposite looks like: "Come! Get curious! Read anything you like! Here are some ideas!" “Most of us can’t experience what it’s like to be an immigrant or refugee in a new country, trying to make our way, but we get to read stories from others to understand their perspective better,” said Alyssa Pressler, who owns That’s Novel Books. “That’s magic. That is a magical thing that books give us.” The book I chose that night: They Called Us Exceptional by Prachi Gupta -- one of my favorite books I've read this year. Brava to ourBRIDGE for KIDS and That's Novel for a wonderful night and a brilliant idea. Read more in my latest column for Charlotte Magazine:

I'm proud to be with a firm that promotes and accepts my individuality. Being a first-generation immigrant is very much a part of my life story - my experience drives my passion to give people the freedom to be themselves and the opportunities to achieve their full potential. I'm grateful to RSM US LLP for supporting my passion and the mission of ourBRIDGE for KIDS!
👋 Meet Nancy Yang, a first-generation American whose parents immigrated to the U.S. from China. As a senior manager at RSM, Nancy wears multiple hats: tax CPA by day, community advocate by heart. She leads our InspirAsian employee network group, fostering support and guidance for Asian professionals within RSM. Nancy’s passion extends beyond the office. She’s also a dedicated volunteer and board treasurer at ourBRIDGE for KIDS where she helps aid refugee and immigrant families. “I was excited to volunteer and subsequently joined the organization’s board as treasurer, applying my professional skills and expertise to help vulnerable children to adjust to their new environments and the complex cultural challenges so many of them face in their new homeland,” she said.
