Last month we sent Feelders to the Out in Tech Leadership Institute and Callstack's React Universe conference. We know that investing in our employees' development isn't just good for them—it's crucial for our collective success. As they absorb new ideas and perspectives, they bring back a wealth of knowledge to share, sparking creativity and engagement throughout the team. Plus, as a fully remote organization, spending time together and building invaluable relationships is wonderful. All Feelders have access to opportunities like this with our flexible Role Development budget, if this interests you, check out our open roles: https://feeld.co/careers

🌈✨ Last week, had the privilege of attending the Out in Tech Leadership Summit, a gathering of queer techies, entrepreneurs, and change-makers. The energy was electric and the stories shared were transformative. We exchanged powerful stories and vulnerable moments that reminded us of the strength in our community and the importance of lifting each other up. Key takeaways that resonated: 🦄 Embrace the Power of Small Changes A 1-degree shift can be just as impactful as solving the entire problem. Sometimes, the most compassionate thing we can do is take that next, small step—and that’s perfectly okay. It might just be exactly what we need. 👯♀️ Community is the Heartbeat of Our Work We are never alone in our journey. Our experiences can be a guiding light for others. Creating brave, safe spaces is essential for this communal growth and exchange. ❤️ Pain Isn’t a Prerequisite for Progress This one hit home: Just because we’ve faced challenges doesn’t mean others have to. True radical change can be paving the way for the next generation to experience a bit more joy and be less burdened by the struggles we’ve faced. 🌍 It’s a Small Queer World Even with billions of people out there, our queer community is closer than we think. (And wider than many realize 😉) The more reason to protect, resource, and create space for our queer communities.

Feeling inspired after spending a few unforgettable days surrounded by hundreds of talented and passionate LGBTQ+ tech professionals at the Out in Tech Leadership Institute. The energy, the stories, and the sheer determination in that room were nothing short of powerful. We shared our journeys, celebrated our diverse identities, and explored how we can push the boundaries of technology to create a more inclusive world. It was a reminder of how far we've come and how much further we can go together. I am deeply grateful to my team at Swoon for the opportunity to attend, for the connections and friends made, the wisdom shared, and the encouragement received from a community that continually lifts each other up. 🧡 I leave this experience more motivated than ever to drive change, create spaces for diverse voices, and embrace leadership that empowers authenticity. #OutInTech #LGBTQinTech #Leadership #Inclusion #DiversityInTech Justin Strickett Adam Schweig

🌟 I recently had the incredible opportunity to attend the Out in Tech Leadership Institute Conference in NYC, which focused on advancing LGBTQ+ inclusion and equality in the workplace, specifically within the tech sector. 💻 It was an inspiring event that emphasized the importance of creating safe inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive. Here are some key takeaways: 1) 🤝 Inclusive Leadership Matters – Leadership plays a crucial role in fostering a truly inclusive environment. I learned about actionable strategies to embed inclusion into company culture such as: personally meeting with every new hire (where reasonable) on your teams & encouraging teams to build their own personal board of directors. 2) 💪 Feel Undeniable and Have Grit – Queer people over-index on grit. We’re often put in uncomfortable positions and persevere in the face of challenges, relentlessly pursuing long-term goals despite setbacks. If someone needs to be trained and learn how to do a particular task, why not let it be me? 3) 👀 Representation & Visibility – Visibility is key to driving change. Hearing stories from executives underscoring the impact of diverse representation, not just in policies but in their leadership styles and everyday business practices. Find leaders who value all of what you contribute to the workplace, not just bits and pieces because it’s the sum of all pieces that make you valuable. It was great to connect with others committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace who share very similar lived experiences and who are pushing for a more equitable future. A big thank you to Claire Taylor, Llewellyn G., Travis Millspaugh and everyone involved in coordinating and sponsoring this event for our global Pride@Uber ERG, and to my manager, Connor McCann, for the support. Also, thanks to Haigaz Farajian for facilitating such a great breakout discussion with fellow peers. I'm excited to apply these insights to foster a more inclusive workplace and continue advocating for positive change! #LifeatUber #OutinTech

Had the pleasure of attending Out in Tech's Leadership Institute last week in New York! 🏳️🌈 I had an amazing time connecting with so many brilliant queer professionals in tech! The speakers delivered impactful and empowering insights. The conference highlighted the importance of community, authenticity, and intentionality in everything we do. It was a powerful reminder that by embracing our unique identities, we not only drive innovation but also create spaces where everyone can thrive. Like Schuyler Bailar said, "don't just open the door, make it wider!" To roughly quote J. Bob Alotta: "Authenticity is a form of resistance. True innovation cracks the system. Richness and history are lost if we are forced into a rigid system." Embracing fully who we are brings innovation, perspective and progress. Huge shoutout to our host, Manuel Roberto Orduña, and the entire OiT team for making this event such a meaningful experience and safe space for so many ❤️
