For Pride Month, EVA AI, an AI chatbot app that promises to connect users to their “AI soulmate,” introduced four new LGBTQ+-themed characters for users to interact with.

TransTech is filling a demonstrated need within specifically the trans community. New research from LGBT Tech found that 68% of transgender adults use the internet to find LGBTQ-friendly employment (compared to 38% of cisgender LGBTQ+ adults). More than 70% of all LGBTQ adults use the Internet to access educational content.

YouTube quietly rolled out a policy change in June that will allow people to request the takedown of AI-generated or other synthetic content that simulates their face or voice.

The Supreme Court ruled against a group of conservatives who sued the Biden administration — alleging the White House violated the First Amendment by pressuring Facebook and other tech platforms to remove “disinformation” — saying they failed to show they were harmed by the administration’s efforts.

The Working Group will bring together representatives from technology companies, trust and safety practitioners, experts in online technology-facilitated gender-based violence, organizations representing impacted communities, and organizations focused on digital rights. The group will discuss current interventions, identify best practices and potential new actions, and increase coordination across industries, civil society, and academia to address this problem. Working Group participants, in addition to CDT, CCRI and NNEDV include: Aylo, Bumble, Google, Open AI, Match, Meta, Microsoft, Reddit, Free Speech Coalition, the Human Rights Campaign, LGBT Tech, the Reclaim Coalition, the Sexual Violence Prevention Association, the UC Center for Race and Digital Justice, Professor Elissa Redmiles, and Dr. Lucy Qin.
