  • We are proud to announce that Daniela Plattner, Managing Director & Co-Founder of Palm Venture Studios, will join an exceptional group of venture capital leaders as a panelist and speaker for the MIT Female Founders Pitch Competition. This prestigious competition is the flagship event of the MIT Sloan Alumni Club of New York, bringing together visionary founders, investors, industry experts, and sponsors to celebrate female entrepreneurs and address gender discrepancies in the VC landscape. Daniela will be speaking alongside distinguished investors Anna Palmer (General Partner at Flybridge and Co-Founder of XFactor Ventures), Jenny Fielding (Co-Founder & Managing Partner at Everywhere Ventures), and Sheena Jindal (Founder & GP of Sugar Free Capital). Their conversation will be moderated by CNBC's Hayley Cuccinello. At Palm Venture Studios, we’re committed to investing in impact-driven startups—and to advancing the mission of female founders. In a VC market where female-founded startups captured less than 23% of deals in 2024, female-founded companies are even less likely to secure follow-on funding. Our approach to “second-chance capital,” strategic support and dedicated mentorship is designed to help promising companies overcome these market barriers and scale sustainably. Join Daniela for an incredible conversation at Deutsche Bank in NYC and secure your tickets to the VC Panel here: https://lnkd.in/gs3_bctE Discover more about MIT Female Founders here: https://lnkd.in/exU3aD8i #VentureCapital #StartupFunding #FemaleFounders

  • We invest in companies that redefine industries. That’s why we’re proud to invest in Vidafuel Nutrition, a revolutionary product in clinical nutrition. Founded by Bette Parolini Stumb in 2016, Vidafuel was born from a deeply personal mission: After watching her mother navigate a 15-year battle with chronic disease, Bette saw firsthand the need for an accessible, efficient solution to deliver essential macronutrients to patients. Inspired, Bette worked with a team of food scientists to innovate a novel 2oz protein shot, engineered to deliver 16 grams of protein and essential macronutrients in a convenient, low-volume format. Optimized for absorption and GI tolerance, Vidafuel has emerged as a critical solution for healthcare providers and individuals with nutritional needs. That’s why our partnership with VidaFuel is about more than capital: It’s about scaling a breakthrough innovation in healthcare nutrition. "Palm Venture Studios’ strategic expertise and shared vision for improving public health represents an extraordinary opportunity for Vidafuel to accelerate our growth and deepen our impact," says Bette. “With Palm’s investment and operational expertise, Vidafuel is poised to expand its healthcare footprint, helping hospitals, providers, and individuals access high-quality protein supplementation that meets real-world patient needs,” she says. We are excited to support Bette and her team as they transform Vidafuel into an everyday standard for patients and healthcare providers. #HealthcareInnovation #ClinicalNutrition #NutritionScience #PatientCare #Vidafuel

  • The venture capital ecosystem is undergoing a significant recalibration. According to The Times, deal volume has declined by 25% year-over-year, returning to 2015 levels. Founders today are navigating longer funding cycles, compressed valuations, and a growing reliance on alternative capital sources, including venture debt. This shift underscores a fundamental reality: Not all promising startups will secure follow-on funding on traditional terms, despite strong fundamentals, technology and market potential. As early-stage capital becomes more constrained, intervention by long-term, patient investors is increasingly necessary to ensure that companies with sound business models and strong unit economics do not stagnate due to market conditions alone. Our approach—providing second-chance capital and operational support for promising startups—is designed to solve this problem, allowing early-stage startups to refine their strategies and position themselves for sustainable growth. If you or someone you know leads an impact-driven startup, let’s connect. We pay a finder’s fee of $20,000 for introductions that lead to a transaction. Send a lead our way: https://lnkd.in/e3y5APm9. _ Read the full article in The Times: https://lnkd.in/ebRPnSqA #VentureCapital #PrivateMarkets #GrowthCapital #StartupFunding #MarketTrends #TurnaroundCapital #PalmVentureStudios

  • Today we spotlight Stefan Pryor, who joined Palm as a Partner last year. With extensive experience in economic development, housing, and education, Stefan has shaped policy at the highest levels of state and city government. As President of the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation, Pryor helped lead efforts to rebuild and revitalize downtown Manhattan, including the World Trade Center site after the September 11th attacks. He then served as the Deputy Mayor for Economic Development in Newark, NJ, directing commerce and housing efforts in New Jersey’s largest city. In 2011, Pryor was appointed Commissioner of Education for the State of Connecticut, guiding the development of education policies and programs across a system of approximately 1,000 schools and 500,000 students. Pryor became the Secretary of Commerce in Rhode Island in 2015. As the first individual to serve in this role, Pryor was instrumental in attracting investment, helping the state’s economy emerge from the pandemic, and positioning Rhode Island as a hub for innovation and development. After that, Pryor became Rhode Island’s Secretary of Housing. In that role, he helped establish the state’s housing department, finance the production and preservation of housing units statewide, increase homeless shelter capacity, and propose the largest housing bond in state history. Pryor will bring unmatched experience in development and education to Palm Venture Studios. • In 2024, we spoke with hundreds of startups facing a common challenge: The pressure to grow quickly without a sustainable business model. Many scaled too fast, hired aggressively, or made short-term decisions to satisfy external demands—decisions that strained cash flow and left their foundations unable to support long-term growth. At Palm, we’ve seen these patterns repeatedly. Backed by a family office, we’re uniquely positioned to provide patient capital and strategic guidance, helping startups balance ambitious goals with sustainable strategies. – If you or someone you know leads an impact-driven startup, let’s connect. • Farmhouse Delivery, an Austin favorite for local produce and chef-prepared meals, is back. After a brief pause to refine its operations and plan for long-term growth, Farmhouse has relaunched with an even stronger foundation. Customers, farmers, and the broader Austin community rallied around its return – selling out on day one. So, how did we get here? Six months ago, Palm saw an opportunity to bring Farmhouse back – not just as it was, but better. With improved pricing, expanded offerings, and a renewed mission, Farmhouse is positioned to better serve its members while strengthening ties to 200+ Texas farmers and ranchers. Palm Partner, John Fitch, has been working closely with the team to make this happen. In his words: “We are invested in the future of Farmhouse because we deeply believe in its mission to help people eat real food and reconnect with fresh products sourced by local farmers and responsible ranchers.” He continued, “At a time when grocery quality is declining and packaging waste has reached unsustainable levels, Farmhouse is uniquely positioned to address these challenges.” Palm has a prominent studio in Austin, and we’re excited to partner with Austin-based companies like Farmhouse to expand their mission and impact. In the meantime, if you believe in real food, sustainable systems, and second chances, be part of the journey. • We’re excited to be included in Thesis Driven by Brad Hargreaves, highlighting Palm’s approach to helping “stuck startups” break through. In a recent article, Hargreaves explores the “Stuck Generation” – companies with real revenue but little cash flow or growth, stalled out with outsized costs, and, as he puts it, "a mediocre menu of options." Many fall into a common profile where they have enough cash to survive but not enough to invest in meaningful growth. That’s exactly where Palm steps in. As fundraising challenges persist, Palm remains committed to expanding our reach and unlocking growth for startups at a critical inflection point. – Read more about the startup landscape and Palm’s approach here: https://lnkd.in/eCSVSS5a
