The highly anticipated Overlook Walk on the Seattle Waterfront opened to the public on Friday, October 4! Parametrix employee-owners made their way down from the office to check it out. Located where the Alaskan Way Viaduct once stood, the elevated park provides pedestrian connections between Pike Place Market, downtown, the Seattle Aquarium and the entire 20-acre Waterfront Park. It provides 360-degree views of Elliot Bay, the Olympics, Mt. Rainier, and the Seattle skyline. Parametrix has been involved in Seattle waterfront improvements for over two decades, originally as a member of the Viaduct replacement project team. We're thrilled to see this project come to fruition!

We're passionate about inspiring the next generation to explore STEM careers and help shape our future. Recently, Jennifer Wildt, PhD, a cultural resource specialist at Parametrix, visited Elmhurst United Middle School in Oakland, CA to teach sixth graders about archaeology as a career path. For many of the students, this is their first time being exposed to archaeology as a career. The day includes a lab activity where students reassemble broken ceramic vessels. Jennifer says that these moments reminder her why she loves what she does and inspire her to keep sharing the wonders of archaeology with young minds. Great work, Jennifer!

Today marks the beginning of Employee-Ownership Month! Parametrix formed an Employee Stock Ownership Plan in 1992 and became 100% employee-owned in 1999. Parametrix co-founder, Waite Dalrymple, discusses his and George Capestany's decision to transfer ownership of the company to the employees. "It felt right to us. That the people that had helped make the company grow would also be the people that would end up owning the company." Learn more about our employee ownership story: https://ow.ly/uF5550TAAtR

The National Transportation in Indian Country Conference (NTICC) brings together hundreds of tribal transportation professionals from across the country to network and share knowledge on topics such as safety, grants, technology, and more. We're proud to have participated in this conference for the last two decades. During this time, we've worked with approximately 40 tribes from across the U.S. to build healthy, livable communities while preserving local traditions. This year's event was held at Choctaw Casinos & Resorts in Durant, OK. Thanks to the Center for Tribal Transportation for another great conference!

The Interstate Bridge Replacement Program has reached an exciting milestone! A draft supplemental environmental impact statement (SEIS) is now available for the public to review. The draft SEIS analyzes the potential impacts and benefits of the modified locally preferred alternative in comparison to a no-build alternative. This is a crucial opportunity for the community to weigh in on the program’s direction.   Parametrix is proud to serve as environmental lead for the program, which aims to replace the aging Interstate Bridge with a safer, more resilient multimodal corridor.

We want to ensure the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement is accessible to all community members. 📘 The Draft SEIS website features an executive summary highlighting key findings and impacts. 🇲🇽 To reach our vast multilingual audience, the executive summary is translated into multiple languages. 🔎 Can't find what you're looking for?
