With the ongoing wildfires, even outside of evacuation zones, smoke and air quality can still affect your health. Thank you to the community sites providing free N95 masks to Los Angeles residents! #StandingTogether
Even outside evacuation zones, smoke and air quality can still affect your health. Although phone weather apps may display normal Air Quality Index levels, the air in Los Angeles County remains hazardous due to ongoing wildfires. The UCLA Labor Occupational Safety and Health (LOSH) Program reports that wildfire smoke contains harmful gases and fine particles, including ash. The smallest particles, called "PM2.5," are particularly concerning because they can penetrate deep into lung tissue. When outdoors, use an N95 mask to protect yourself from microscopic particles in dust, smoke, smog, and particulate matter. Here is a list of locations to pick up free N95 masks. ✅ L.A. Care Health Plan community resource centers. https://buff.ly/4hhsh0a ✅ All Los Angeles Public Library branches will offer free masks while supplies last. lapl.org/branches ✅ Los Angeles city recreation and senior centers, aquatic facilities, golf courses, museums, and the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium will provide free masks. A complete list of locations and contact information is online. https://buff.ly/3E8jejz
