Recently, NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development announced that households with vouchers will no longer have to undergo credit checks when selected for affordable housing. “Phipps Houses applauds these and all efforts by HPD to streamline the application process for affordable housing,” said Cathy Pennington , General Manager and Senior Vice President, Phipps Houses. “We discontinued the practice of running credit reports for all applicants in 2021 because landlords who rent to families with rental subsidies can be confident that on-time, monthly payments will be made.
