It was an honor to speak at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Immunization Conference and connect with healthcare leaders doing amazing work nationwide on immunization.     A few highlights from the conference:     - This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Vaccines for Children (VFC)’s program, which ensures all children have access to life-saving vaccines. As a pediatrician, this program is near and dear to my heart as it allowed my pediatric practice to provide vaccines to our young patients. I am humbled to be reminded of and to have seen firsthand the historic impact of this program.     - If providers are confident they will be reimbursed for vaccinating patients, this supports uptake. Why? Without this reassurance, many providers can’t recoup costs and are forced to opt out. With the rollout of newer vaccines (such as the herpes zoster, or the shingles vaccine and the RSV vaccine), lack of reimbursement to vaccinating providers could serve as a barrier for providers to offer newer vaccines.     - Immunizing our communities to protect them from vaccine-preventable disease is truly a team sport. I was inspired by initiatives that span from the grassroots to federal levels with a common goal of getting more people vaccinated. I’m so proud of the work that Phreesia is doing to support patients and providers to help them have the critical conversations they need to boost vaccination rates.

It's exciting to see the direction in which Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services is going with #oncology and #qualitymeasurement as rapid advances take place in personalized #cancertreatment.    We now have the ability to not only identify evolving genetic mutations, but also to deploy new therapeutics to treat people at a much more individualized level. But as the science of oncology evolves, cancer care and support must also keep pace.    For patients to receive the best care possible, patient activation is more important than ever. Why? Because patients who are able to self-manage their care know their personal profile and understand the options that could improve their cancer care (which is often debilitating and costly), leading to better health outcomes. We can't leave the most valuable member of the clinical care team - the patient! - on the sidelines when the patient has so much to offer if they are fully engaged.   The Patient Activation Measure is already included in the Advancing Cancer Care MIPS Value Pathway, and we at Phreesia hope to see PAM included more widely, as a quality measure in more oncology programs.   Read this article by Ron Kline, Dora Hughes and Michelle Schreiber for more on how CMS is prioritizing the provision of quality oncology care: https://lnkd.in/dvcBC-w6
