Inspired by interpreting for his Deaf father as a child at sporting events, Brice Christianson dreamed of having a world where ASL and Sports came together. The dream became a reality as Brice became the first Professional Sports Sign Language Interpreter and the Milwaukee Bucks became the first Professional Sports team to provide sign language interpreting access to the Deaf community. Play-By-Play Sports Interpreting strives to break down barriers one sign at a time within Professional Sports by providing sign language interpreting access to Deaf and Hard of Hearing Sports Fans.

On Sunday, prior to Megan Rapinoe’s jersey retirement ceremony, Brittany Rupik, our very own Deaf performer, performed the National Anthem in ASL on stage. This is such a perfect example of how we can build accessible and inclusive experiences in professional sports. Thank you to Seattle Reign FC for the partnership and continued investment into the Deaf and hard of hearing community. And a round of applause for Brittany for her amazing performance in ASL.

I recently received a nice surprise in the mail. A letter from Senator Laura Murphy with a State of Illinois Senate Certificate of Recognition for the work P-X-P: Access in Sports and I did with National Hockey League (NHL)’s NHL in ASL.
My gratitude goes to Senator Murphy and the State of Illinois for the recognition and support of our work in advancing Deaf accessibility and inclusion.

One of our favorite things to do is to support other teams and leagues by attending sporting events on our off days. Thanks again to the Barclays Center for having us for our first ever WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) game.

A rare off day lately for the P-X-P: Access in Sports crew as we took in our first ever WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) game last night with the Los Angeles Sparks & New York Liberty. Here's a sneak peek of our trek from Manhattan to Brooklyn as myself, Noah Blankenship, MBA, and Jason Altmann got to see Sabrina Ionescu and her 31 points carry the Liberty to a win last night. Thanks again to the Barclays Center and the New York Liberty for having us!
P.S. Game 6 of "NHL in ASL" is tonight on ESPN+ and Sportsnet+ at 8 p.m. ET.

While "NHL in ASL" was happening at National Hockey League (NHL) Headquarters, after rehearsals last week and within 48 hours, I flew from NYC to Fort Lauderdale to Amerant Bank Stadium for Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final and then back to NYC for "NHL in ASL" Game 2.
Here's a behind the scenes look of P-X-P: Access in Sports work at Game 1 of the SCF.
A brief glimpse of my workday as a NHL in ASL broadcaster.
National Hockey League (NHL) and their staff is "one of kind" when it comes to investing in Deaf accessibility, inclusion, and representation. Authentic and empathy are two words that I would describe of the NHL staff.
Please don't forget to watch NHL in ASL Game 3 on June 13th, 8 pm ET on ESPN+ and Sportsnet+
