project:HOMES is a nonprofit organization headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. We improve lives through the production and preservation of affordable housing. Our programs serve low-income families, seniors and disabled persons through affordable housing, energy conservation and health & safety modifications. Each year we improve the lives of more than 2,000 families and our waiting lists continue to grow. Our work helps families stay in their homes and live in high-quality housing. It prevents widespread losses in low- and moderate-income homeownership and helps stabilize communities. We empower volunteers, conserve energy, transform neighborhoods and improve lives. More than 1,000 volunteers make home repairs and build wheelchair ramps through the project:HOMES Renew Crew program. This volunteer work allows at-risk individuals to remain in their homes and live independently, safely and affordably. We are improving lives by improving homes.

🤡 The kids at Bermuda Estates had a blast last week during International Clown Week with a fun-filled clown show, complete with bubbles, balloon animals, magic, comedy skits, sing-alongs, and pizza! Just over a year old, the Bermuda Estates Community Center has quickly become a place where residents can gather and enjoy events like these, helping to build a vibrant and connected community.

With help from Leticia, Zack, Charlie, and Richmond Community ToolBank, the Bermuda Estates manufactured home community now has new child-sized and adult-sized picnic tables at the community center! Richmond ToolBank is a nonprofit organization that lends tools and equipment to community-based groups and volunteers. These volunteers use the tools to complete service projects that make Richmond a more vibrant and equitable place for everyone. The organization offers volunteer opportunities, donates furniture built by volunteers, and provides free workshops on home care and repair.

A small team from the Energy Conservation department recently traveled to Tangier Island, a unique community located in the Chesapeake Bay. Tangier Island is a remote island only accessible by ferry, which runs seasonally from late May through mid-October.
