At Project Healing Waters, we witness the profound impact of nature on Veterans facing PTSD. Fly fishing offers a peaceful, restorative experience —one that replaces stress with calm and builds a supportive community. Each cast becomes a moment of reflection and healing, allowing Veterans to connect with the outdoors and with each other. Together, we’re helping Veterans find strength and resilience in the beauty of nature. For more information please visit: projecthealingwaters.org

As fall settles in and temperatures start to drop more and more across most of the country, there is still some time to enjoy fly fishing with dry flies before the real cold kicks in. Late season dry fly action can be some of the most rewarding, with trout taking advantage of the remaining hatches. How long do you push it before switching up your tactics? What is working in your local area right now? #flyfishingsaveslives #projecthealingwaters #onthefly #getoutside #flyfishing

Today, on Day of the Deployed, we honor the bravery and sacrifices of all those who have served overseas. This day was first recognized in 2006 in North Dakota, thanks to the efforts of North Dakota constituent Shelle Michaels Aberle, whose cousin was deployed at the time. Through her work petitioning the then Governor, the day was recognized by ND and then many states following suit. It was later expanded to be nationally recognized, ensuring that the men and women who have been deployed are celebrated and acknowledged for their service to our country. At Project Healing Waters, we understand that the challenges of deployments often continue after returning home. That’s why we’re dedicated to providing Veterans with the therapeutic benefits of fly fishing, camaraderie, and healing in nature. To all those deployed and their families, we thank you for your courage and sacrifice. If you or someone you know is looking for a supportive community after service, we’re here to help. #dayofthedeployed #projecthealingwaters #veteranshelpingveterans #flyfishingsaveslives

At Project Healing Waters, we believe in the transformative power of skill development, particularly through fly rod building. This hands-on activity offers veterans a chance to engage in a focused and rewarding experience. Building a fly rod is not just about crafting a fishing tool; it’s a journey of accomplishment. As veterans assemble their rods, they find purpose and forge connections with fellow participants. This creative process serves as a therapeutic outlet, helping to alleviate stress and enhance well-being. By learning new skills, our veterans build confidence and friendships. "What I like most about fly rod building is there are NO limits as to how you build it. Project Healing Waters has helped me out in many ways mentally and physically. Have made many long term friends because of healing waters. Learned how to build a fly rod and then sharing my knowledge with others, it's been one of the best ways to deal with PTSD for me." - Army Veteran #projecthealingwaters #flyfishingsaveslives #veteranshelpingveterans #community #flyfishing
